1 | unbalanced concept of god | Bible general Archive 3 | GotJesus2 | 168909
I would say that a lot fall into the extreme that God is unfair. Someone dies and it is not fair because that was a good person. Another one is the extreme that God allows everything bad to happen to me. We have a concept of what God is suppose to be and how he is to act on certain situations. The scripture you gave in Hebrews states the Lord disciplines those he loves. That totally unfair trial or tribulation that we may be experiencing may be intrepreted by us as why does God allow this and end of thinking God doesn't like me or love me because his rationale is different from mine. We always have to remember that we can't see the the beginning from the end and that discipline grows us in character to be the person God wants us to be.
2 | Matthew 4, Luke 5, Mark 1, John 1 | Bible general Archive 3 | GotJesus2 | 168915
I'm not sure if I got the question but here it goes... In Luke 5, Peter is confronted by Jesus with a dilemma. Peter tired from a day of fishing, is told something kinda offensive to him. A non fisherman is telling him how to fish. Peter thought to himself. Who is he to tell me how to fish - I'm the fisherman and he's the guy that is good at public speaking and putting on a good show. Jesus wanted to show Peter that what he thought he knew was not enough. There was a lot more to life that he really knew. Same application to us. When we think we know all that there is to know that is when we need to be shown by God that there is much more and that God has much to show us still. Jesus produced more fish than Peter could handle. It had just become Peter's biggest day of fishing and the funny thing is that Peter just left all of that fish behind to follow Jesus. Wow. Can you drop everything especially on your biggest day to follow the author of life? Peter did. He saw that he didn't know all that he though he knew. |

3 | People on other planets? | Bible general Archive 3 | GotJesus2 | 168938
First, how probable is it that there is another habitable planet like the Earth? From what Astrobiologists are saying that the likelihood is not very likely. You would have to find a solar system with a star like the Sun to increase the probability of having a planet like the Earth. Another situation is the position of solar system in the galaxy. Our solar system is located in between the tail that is not so dangerous of a place compared to like the intense place of the center of the galaxy. The Earth is special and was created in that fashion. Much fine tuning went into the Earth to allow for life. Change any of the forces such as the gravitational force by just a fraction of a degree and we would not be able to exist. The Bible is not a scientific book and does not clue us into what God has done in other parts of the universe. I think the reason for the incredible size of the universe is to give us a clue how great God is and how vast he is. Romans 1:20 "From the creation of the world, God's invisible qualities, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly observed in what he made." Notice also the location in the galaxy and clear atmosphere we have for discovery. God wanted us to be able to see how vast and great his creation is. |

4 | Where should not ware religion on sleeve | NT general Archive 1 | GotJesus2 | 168922
I haven't seen a scripture like that but in essence Matthew 6 from Jesus Sermon on the Mount states that we should do our religion our good works in private before God and not in public boasting of ourselves. We can turn our religion into a religion of me. This is me and forget the real belief in God. Those that talk the talk and not walk the walk are fooling themselves. Showing a form of religion but turning their back on it - 2 Tim 3. James 1:22-27 gives a true meaning to religion in that we should be doers of the word and practice pure religion which is visiting the widows and fatherless and keeping oneself unspotted from the world. |

5 | Thus saith the Lord | Mal 4:6 | GotJesus2 | 168946
These books had to go through a process called Canonization. This process was conducted by the early church. The books included in the canon had to adhere to critera. Canon means rule of life or doctrine. It was like a measuring rod for the books. The books had to be found satisfactory by the church council to be included in their particular canon. It had to meet the requirement that it is inspired by God. Most of the books were shown to be accepted very early on. It had to accepted as authoritative. The book had to be authored by a recognized prophet. Another example, Old Testament books were endorsed by Paul and Christ. John 5:39 If a new book back in the day was introduce for canonization and it had conflicting doctrine then it was not accepted because of it not being inspired work of God.
6 | gods holiness | Revelation | GotJesus2 | 168919
I think Revelation reveals what God's wrath is to those that continue in disobedience even though God has warned them time and time again. The symbols in Revelation show a considerable amount of wrath from the unveiling of the seals the sounding of the trumpets and also of the seven thunders which we don't know about. It is God's coming judgement on the wicked. God's holy nature requires wrath and justice as well as mercy and love.
