1 | Is Cain Exempted in Hell | Genesis | BradK | 235765
Jlp, You're back on the Forum after an extended absence! Welcome back! I believe a reading of Hebrews 11 would answer your question, Is Cain expemted from Hell? Note Heb. 11:13, "All these died in faith, without receiving the promises, but having seen them and having welcomed them from a distance, and having confessed that they were strangers and exiles on the earth." (NASB) Regarding Cain: In Heb. 11:4 we're told "By faith Abel offered to God a better sacrifice than Cain,..." Here, Abel is noted for his faith and there is no mention of Cain. Then, in 1 John 3:12 we read, "...not as Cain, who was of the evil one and slew his brother. And for what reason did he slay him? Because his deeds were evil, and his brother's were righteous". Note Jude 11, "Woe to them! For they have gone the way of Cain, and for pay they have rushed headlong into the error of Balaam, and perished in the rebellion of Korah." Is Cain Exempted in Hell? Based on scripture (particularly Hebrews 11), I can find no reason to conclude Cain is exempt. What's said of him would lead me to conclude that his evil deeds condemn him. He would face the Great White Throne judgment as spoken of in Rev. 20:12ff. Finally, in Rev. 20:15 it states, "And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire." (NASB) Hopefully I have read and understood your question as it reads. Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

4 | How many layers of meaning in the Bible? | 2 Tim 2:1 | BradK | 235525
Helsrisen, The answer partially depends upon the approach one takes to interpreting scripture. I hold to a Literal, Historical-Grammatical approach. This includes context and the authors' intended meaning. So, scripture therefore has one meaning. Perhaps you'referring to the Allegorical approach? With this the alegorical meaning came to be viewed by some as the highest meaning of a passage. This appraoch was dominant in the early church for the first several centuries. You'd have to be more specific in providing details as to how you arrive at your "three layers". I'm missing the significance of 1 Cor. 9:9? What leads you to ask this question? 18 | Would you agree with these thoughts? | Mark 3:29 | BradK | 235096
Hello Nathan, You ask a good question and I appreciate the format and options, which show you've given it some thought:-) Much has been written on this- and far more that I can or would want to elaborate on at this point. Suffice it to say that I've held to Option C: This sin simply means unbelief. I think it's clear from scripture and logical that God cannot forgive unbelief! This is exemplified through the entire Gospel of John, i.e. 3:15, "so that whoever believes will in Him have eternal life". Belief here would include: Knowledge, assent, and trust! Unbelief in the Person and work of our Savior cannot be forgiven. Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

19 | whats hateful bird in rev. 18:2 | Rev 18:2 | BradK | 235093
Hello mountionmam, The ESV reads, "...a haunt for every unclean bird," The YLT reads, "... a hold of every unclean and hateful bird" Keep in mind Revelation is a prophetic book and contains much imagery. We have an angel announcing the fall of Babylon. With a cursory reading, it doesn't appear any specific birds are being referred to (also see 19:17, 21). The Bible Knowledge Commentary offer this note: "What is pictured here is a large prosperous city, the center of political and economic life. The judgment of God makes it a home for demons and a haunt for every evil spirit, a haunt for every unclean and detestable bird. For all the nations have drunk the maddening wine of her adulteries. This false religion is like a drug that drives men to madness. While it brought riches to merchants, it is now doomed for destruction." I hope this helps, BradK |
