4 | srry i dont see the blue letter | Bible general Archive 3 | Bows44 | 159235
Hi Lil Kea13, Let me see...you want to see someone's profile right? Well..to the right of the title of a post (this that you are reading is a post) is the author's name. Click on it. On my computer the title of a post and the author's name is blue until you haved clicked on it, then it turns a kacki color. Your computer may have a different color scheme. Someone asked you before what your age is. Knowing this would help others in answering your questions. Does the 13 in your screen name stand for 13 years old? I won't get mad at you, but I don't know how to explain looking at someone's profile any clearer, so if you can't figure it out with this post, maybe you can just ask for the info you are looking for in a post. i.e. if you want my email to talk outside the forum it is kabuchitama@yahoo.com. Hope this helps, Bows44 |

5 | Why no Church services on Christmas? | Bible general Archive 3 | Bows44 | 159982
Hi Pbp, I can't speak for every church, but our church and most churches I know of always hold services on Sunday even when Christmas falls on that day. The only time we didn't have service was when the hurricanes blew through last year. :-( Usually we have a special "Happy Birthday Jesus" themed service. Many other churches I know have special dramas or Cantadas with Christmas themes. Hope this helps, Bows44 |

Hi NightJay, The only way to get to know someone is to spend time with them. So read your Bible, pray, and worship Jesus everyday. Go to a Bible believing church and develop Christian relationships as these brothers and sisters in Christ will be able to help you. Also, get involved with serving the church and others in love. 2 Tim 2:15 1 Thess 5:17 John 4:23-24 Heb 10:25 Romans 12, 1 Cor. 12 Gal 5:13 Hope this helps, Bows44 |

7 | another word for virulent or virus | Bible general Archive 3 | Bows44 | 160189
Hi Angel... Actually a Thesaurus is a better tool for synonyms than a dictionary. According to The New American Roget's College Thesaurus that I have: Virulent, adj. poisonous, venomous; deadly; toxic, noxious; malignant, malevolent; caustic, acrimonious. See badness, disease, resentment. virus, n. venom. poison, catagium, germ. microorganism. See disease. Hope this helps, Bows44 |

8 | Anything wrong with dating? | Bible general Archive 1 | Bows44 | 155908
Hi Kalos, "I Thess. 4 is clear that it is possible to defraud a brother or sister, not only physically, but emotionally as well! Christian families, to be safe, must erect fences that will protect against defrauding in both areas." Dr. S.M. Davis I have not read this book. However, I purchased and listened to an excellent message on CD by Dr. S. M. Davis entitiled "Seven Bible Truths Violated by Christian Dating." My 13 year old son also listened to it with me and we discussed it. This message has helped him decide to wait for the one God has prepared for him and not test the waters with dating. Checking out a young lady or young man by dating is a lack of faith in God bringing you the one prepared for you. Also, there is an exchange that is made when one becomes emotionally tied to another. Should that relationship breakup, there is a wounding. Think about it. Put yourself in that situation where you really care about someone of the opposite sex and are working on building a strong relationship. Then one day they come to you and say you are not it. They have found someone else. Does this not create a wound in your spirit? This is defrauding emotionally. It is not something we should set ourselves up for or do to others. I highly recommend this Biblically sound, easy to understand message as Dr. Davis can say it much better than I can in this short space. It may be purchased at www.visionforum.com. Yours in Christ, Bows44 |

Hi Again Kalos, You asked for a different perspective culturally. The following website outlines the Jewish marriage customs during Jesus' time. These customs are directly related to what Jesus was saying to his disciples in John 14:1-3: www.biblestudymanuals.net/jewish_marriage_customs.htm They outline a beautiful analogy that helpe us understand our relationship with Jesus. Hope this helps. Bows44 |

10 | Gen. 2:24 or Ex 20:12?? | Gen 2:24 | Bows44 | 156951
Hi Lissamz, This is a very delicate situation in that it is your mother-in-law. You do not want to alienate your husband, but neither do you want to be subjected to her damaging talk. So what does the Bible say to do... forgive - Matthew 6:14-15, bless - Luke 6:28 and Rom. 12:14, do good - Romans 12:20 It also says... Matthew 10:37 He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. If honoring her causes you to sin, it is better to obey God. This may be more for your husband. Also, your husband is to love you, as his wife, as Christ loves the church and be willing to give his life for you. Eph. 5:25. So, win her over with kindness. Pray for her. Pray for your husband. Do not became angry or bitter. Walk in the love of God and be a peacemaker. The Bible says that you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. A big part of getting the victory in this situation is making sure your own relationship with God and husband are strong. Hope this helps. Praying for you. Bows44 P.S. Feel free to check my profile and email me personally if you want. :-) |

11 | Should a woman pursue a man? | Gen 39:7 | Bows44 | 159558
Hi Soldier, Read the Book of Ruth. In chapter 3, Naomi instructs Ruth on how to catch a man...Boaz. This I think is a good example of a woman pursuing a man and it was considered wise. Ruth was successful, too as chapter 4 tells about their marriage. :-) Hope this helps, Bows44 |

13 | Adultry | Judg 16:1 | Bows44 | 159109
Hi NightJay, To which scripture are you referring? In some scriptures it means actual in the natural prostitutes (i.e. Gen. 34:31, 38:15, Lev. 19:29, Joshua 2:1.) In others, it is referring to spiritual prostitution (i.e. Ex. 34:15, Lev. 20:6, Judges 8:27.) Adultery is not exactly the same as prostitution. Adultery is sex between a married man and a woman not his wife or a woman and a man not her husband. A person who looks at another with lust in his/her heart has already committed adultery in his/her heart. (Matt. 5:28) According to Webster's New World Dictionary prostitute: 1. to sell the services of (oneself or another) for the purposes of sexual intercourse 2. to sell (oneself, one's artistic or moral integrity, etc) for low or unworthy purposes adj [rare] given over to base purposes; debased; corrupt n 1. a woman who engages in promiscuious sexual activity for pay; whore; harlot b) a man who engages in such activity, esp. homosexual acts, for pay 2. a person, as a writer, artist, etc., who sells his or her services for low or unworthy purposes Pick a scripture that uses one of these terms and we can discuss what God is trying to say. Sincerely, Bows44 |

" 45 Meanwhile, the sky grew black with clouds, the wind rose, a heavy rain came on and Ahab rode off to Jezreel. 46 The power of the LORD came upon Elijah and, tucking his cloak into his belt, he ran ahead of Ahab all the way to Jezreel. 15 | Ive neva seen him this close to slipping | Ps 132:1 | Bows44 | 150229
Hunger to know God is a good thing. It is the highest calling we have. (John 17:3, Col. 2:2) How do we know God? We read His word. A person who is slipping in thier faith is one who has stopped feeding thier spirit. Read the scriptures together that you both may be fed. Here are some good ones to help in this current situation. John 3:13, Eph 4:10, John 14:6 - Who can lead us to the Father? Only Jesus knows the way. What is not of faith, is sin, so come boldly by Faith. Rom. 14:23, Heb. 4:16 Deut. 8:3 - The Word of God is our sustenance. We need to eat of it daily - Luke 11:3 Also, God promises that if you seek him with a whole heart he will be found. Is 55:6, Deut. 4:29, Matt. 7:7 Let God purify your heart and clean your hands. Psalm 139:23-25, Psalm 24:3-4 Hopes this is helpful. Praying that you reach your goal! Philippians 3:13-15 (New American Standard Bible) 13 Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. 15 Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, have this attitude; and if in anything you have a different attitude, God will reveal that also to you; Bows44 |

17 | Pride is a good thing! Or is it? | Prov 23:7 | Bows44 | 153605
Upon reviewing this thread, I find that my last post may not have suffienciently answered your question. I would like to add my answer to the others. First, to understand pride one must also understand humility which is the opposite of pride.(Andrew Murrays book Humility is a good one for this.) False humility is as bad as pride. We all have value; so much value in fact that God Himself came down in the person of Jesus Christ and shed precious blood on a cross to reconcile us back to Himself. Also, he has given to each of us not only a measure of faith, but gifts and talents which are supposed to be used for His glory. Rom. 12:3 For through the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith. If we acknowledge our child's accomplishment, it should be in the context of giving glory to God. Teaching our children to accept a compliment graciously by saying, "Thank you. I am glad that God gave me the ability to this." is a good way to teach them to be humble, yet confident in this... Phil 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. I home school my son who is very smart. He used to struggle with pride until I taught him that he can only do what he can do because God gave him his abilities. I also taught him that we are to be good stewards of all that God gives us. This means we do our best. We have to let them know when they have succeeded, so they are encouraged to continue using their gifts and talents for the glory of God. They also need to know that they have value. Knowing they have value, that everything they have comes from God and that He helps them use what He has given them for His glory (not their's) should be a good antidote for pride. At least it seems to be working for us. Hope this helps. Bows44 |

18 | why not? How does it not fit in? | Prov 23:7 | Bows44 | 153610
Yes...our righteousness is as filthy rags, but once saved we have become the righteouness of God in Christ Jesus. It is no longer we who live, but Christ. The old nature has been crucified with Christ. Behold all things have been made new. Romans 3:22 1 Cor. 1:30 Phil. 1:11 Phil 3:9 Romans 7:5 Romans 7:18 Galatians 5:17 Ephesians 4:22 Colossians 3:9-10 2 Cor. 5:17 Romans 6:6 Gal 2:19-20 If we put ourselves down, have a wrong attitude about ourselves or display false humility, then we discount what Christ has done. So it is not pride in ourselves, but boasting about God and what He has done. We give all the glory to God taking none for ourselves. Phil. 2:16, Phil. 3:3, Gal. 6:14, 2 Cor. 12:9 Hope this helps. 20 | At what moment do we go to heaven? | Eccl 12:7 | Bows44 | 155604
I had a personal near death experience a few years ago that I believe this scripture proves is true (although having experienced it I know it is true, we do like to have scriptural basis for our experiences)...Jesus was walking me to Heaven and we stopped in a bright white room. Jesus spoke to me and gave me the choice to go on [to heaven] or to stay [here on earth.] Because of my son and husband, I chose to stay. Based on Eccl. 12:7, Phil. 1:21 and 2 Corinthians 5:5-8 as well as this personal experience, I believe that our spirit goes straight to heaven when we die. You may also do a word search on second death to gain a clear understanding of what death is. Death means separation. When we physically die, our spirit is separated from our body. When we are spiritually dead, we are separated from God. Hope this helps. Bows44 |
