1 | 186000 | Josh 5:14 | Abide In Him | 107287
The Bible says there is only one way to enlightenment - when the Lord Jesus enters your life. (John 1: 1-5. In the beginning was he Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it." John 1: 9-12 "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God." Coming to Christ offers the true enlightenment by removing our sins and restoring us into fellowship with God the Father through His Son and via the Holy Spirit. All other religions only steer you to self discipline, self-sacrifice, spiritual exercises, and benevolent deeds which cannot regenerate the ever present sinful nature. Hugging your mother and co-worker will not wash away the dark thoughts and hidden deeds or even the little white lies. One cannot enter Heaven with sins. There are outward improvements but the dark cloud of sin which obscures a person's vision of the glorious God can only removed by accepting Jesus Christ's death and resurrection. Buddha actually died while still searching for enlightenment. When Jesus Christ died, He rose victorious from the grave three days later. He now sits in Heaven, soon to return. Christ is the good Shepherd who died for His sheep. By kneeling in acceptance of Christ's sacrificial death for you and His resurrection you too may have eternal life. True enlightenment is the recognition that one cannot on his/her own, escape from their sinful self. By crying out to Jesus for deliverance and forgiveness, by asking for the bood of Christ to wash away your sins, is enlightenment achieved. (John 5:24 "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears my word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.") Please read the Gospel of John for a clearer understanding of who Jesus is - not a mere man but the Son of God. |

2 | Sevenfold Spirit of God? | Is 11:2 | Abide In Him | 107320
Isaiah 11:2 The Spirit of the LORD will rest on Him, The spirit of WISDOM and UNDERSTANDING, The spirit of COUNSEL and STRENGTH, The spirit of KNOWLEDGE and the FEAR OF THE LORD. God's Promise concerning His Servant Isaiah 42:1 "Behold, My Servant, whom I uphold; My chosen one in whom My soul delights. I have put My Spirit upon Him; He will bring forth JUSTICE to the nations. 1 Corinthians 1:30 But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us WISDOM from God, and RIGHTEOUSNESS and SANCTIFICATION, and REDEMPTION, Ephesians 1:17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of WISDOM and of REVELATION in the knowledge of Him. -------------------------- More than seven spirits , huh? |

3 | BC and AD stand for what? | Matt 2:16 | Abide In Him | 110658
BC means "Before Christ" (was born) and AD means "In the Year of Our Lord." We ar enow in the year 2004 AD. When the Wisemen from the East journeyed to Bethlehem, they followed a star. Becuase of the time it would take to travel over land, the wisemen may have needed two years to reach Bethelehem. Jesus could have been two years old at the time since Herod had all male children two years and under killed "according to the time which he had determined from the magi" (Matthew 14:16) There may be other reasons for the remaining 3-4 years which I am not sure of. One could be the way years were calculated. We switched to the curent Gregorian 365 day calendar with its 28, 30 and 31 day months some hundreds of years after Jesus was born. |

4 | Once we enter heaven Can webe thrown out | Matt 8:12 | Abide In Him | 110656
Dear Ray B: In my opinion, Jesus is remarking about the Jews whom he had been preaching to. He was marveling that a Roman centurion (non-Jew) had such faith in Christ. Jesus marveled "I have not found such great faith with anyone in Israel (among the Jews)." Later Jesus says ".....Many (non-Jews) will come from east and west, and recline at the table with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (the Fathers of the Jewish faith who looked to the coming of the Messiah)in the kingdom of heaven; but the sons (Jews) of the kingdom will be cast out into the outer darkness (because many Jews would not believe in Jesus, the Messiah, as He Himself preached and revealed Himself to them. In a sense, all Jews could have sat at table at the feast in Heaven and they were the first to see the Messiah standing among them. Sadly many Jews and Non-Jews (Gentiles) alike have rejected Jesus) And Jesus said to the (Roman) centurion, "Go, it shall be done for you as you have believed..." God's blessings upon you and your loved ones! |

5 | Does God save children ? | Matt 18:5 | Abide In Him | 110680
Dear Ken John: I believe children in broken homes can have or see a greater need for God (Matthew 5:3-4 "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven" Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted." In many ways, children from good homes where Christ is not taught, may not see their need for a Savior and seek for God as easily as someone from a poor, broken home (The other kids have a nice house, parent who are indifferent to Jesus Christ or not preach salvation by faith, TV, video games, etc.) Luke 18:25 "For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." It is hard to compare one disadvantaged group to those who appear to be well-off. Luke 13:4 "Or do you suppose that those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them were worse culprits than all the men who live in Jerusalem? Luke 13:5 "I tell you, no, but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish." May we lead all the children to a knowledge of thier Heavenly Father. Matthew 21:15 "and the children who were shouting in the temple, "Hosanna to the Son of David.." Col 3:20 Children, be obedient to your parents in all things, for this is well-pleasing to the Lord. Col 3:21 Fathers, do not exasperate your children, so that they will not lose heart. Children are born placed into the family of God's divine choosing for His purpose. Ps 139:13 For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother's womb. Ps 139:14 I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well. Ps 139:15 My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth; Ps 139:16 Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; And in Your book were all written The days that were ordained for me, When as yet there was not one of them. |

6 | Before Jesus, were people saved? | Rom 2:16 | Abide In Him | 107275
Carrieb: All persons who lived and died before Christ was born on Earth will have no excuse (Romans 1:19-21)"For since the creation of the world His attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made so that they are without excuse. For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks..." The people of old had enough knowledge from God's Creation and God's revealed glory divine attributes to know that there was a God. They also knew that God would not want them to do what was wrong (e.g. Romans 1:23 exchange the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures (e.g eagles, horses, cows, snakes, divine kings, etc) or live with a depraved mind (Roman 1:29) "being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil, full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malive, they are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful..." (People are still doing these things). On whether those of old were "saved," will really depend on the coming day of judgement. Per Romans 2:26, "...God will judge the secrets of men through Jesus Christ." All the secret thoughts and deeds done in darkness by all persons, today and those who died long ago, will be judged through Jesus Christ. Mankind was in such a hopeless condition, being bogged down in our own sins, that only God could save us. The Father so loves the world that He gave His only Son (John 3:16). His Son Jesus was born and lived a sin-free life. When He died on the cross all of our sins were "placed" (inputed) on Him who had no sin. He, a guiltless man, died for us, the guilty. The Sheperd laid down His life for the sheep. It was necessary to save us so we could have a loving relationship with God the Father, God the Son and the Holy Spirit forever rather than let us continue on in our sins and eventual judgment. Christ has paid the price for our salvation. All other religions are some form of working your way to heaven. By being more good than bad, you will go to heaven. But sin is so serious that a single sin will prevent a person from going to heaven. We don't see the seriousness of sin today. Unloving, boastful and greedy thoughts and actions are pretty common worldwide, in every country, society, family and person. Sin cannot be overlooked. Sin demands punishment. Yes, God wanted to do something about it and sent His Son. If you ask Him to forgive your sins, accepting His death on the cross for you, you will be saved. (John 3:16) (John 10:7-9. "I am the door of the sheep. All who came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture." The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly." Carrieb, if you have time, read through the Book of John and ask God to show you who Jesus is more clearly. Merry Christmas to you and God bless ! |

7 | gnostic | Rom 6:6 | Abide In Him | 110414
Gnostics believe in God as a spirit and Jesus Christ was a man who died who had the Christ spirit on him. Gnostics believe that when Jesus died the Christ spirit left him and went to other persons including Mohammed, Buddha, even gurus and many other spiritual leaders. True Christians know that Jesus Christ is the one and only true "light of the world." Jesus rose from the dead and will indwell you through the Holy Spirit if you ask Him to come into your life, confessing your need for a Savior from your sins and acknowledging His death on the cross for you. Accept His love! For strength against temptation we pray to God the Father through His son Jesus Christ and rely on His Holy Spirit (not a divine mother). By accepting Jesus' death on the cross for us, we have benefited from His crucifixion and therefore also His resurrected life. Romnas 6:6-7 "..knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we woud no longer be slaves to sin; for he who has died is freed from sin." Our old self has no power over us to sin as we continually remind ourselves by faith, that the sinful self was nailed to the cross and we are now slaves to righteousness. Some have said that we must remember Romans 6:11 "Even so consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus." By faith we see ourselves as dead to sin even but alive to do the things of God. |

9 | follow up on gnostic | Rom 6:6 | Abide In Him | 110421
People can know who Jesus is and that He died for their sins on the cross but not accept Him. In Mark, the demons knew who Jesus was but did not want any part of Him. Neither did the Gerasene people who wanted Jesus to go away from them. Mark 5:1-13."They came to the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gerasenes. When He got out of the boat, immediately a man from the tombs with an unclean spirit met Him, and he had his swelling among the tombs. And no one was able to bind him anymore, even with a chain because he had often been bound with shackles and chains, and the chains had been torn apart by him and the shackles broken in pieces, and no one was strong enough to subdue him. Constantly, night and day, he was screaming among the tombs and in the mountains, and gashing himself with stones. Seeing Jesus from a distance, he ran up and bowed down before Him and shouting with a loud voice, he said, "What business do we have with each other, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I implore You, by God, do not torment me!" For He had been saying to him, "Come our of the man, you unclean spirit!" And He was asking him, "What is your name?" And he said to Him, "My name is Legion; for we are many." And he began to implore Him earnestly not to send them out of the country. Now there was a large herd of swine feeding nearby on the mountain. The demons implored Him, saying, "Send us into the swine so that we may enter them." Jesus gave them permission. And coming out, the unclean spirits enteredd the swine; and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea, about two thousand of them; and they were drowned in the sea. Their herdsmen ran away and reported it in the city and in the country. And the people came to see what it was that had happened. They came to Jesus and observed the man who had been demon-possessed sitting down, clothed and in his right mind, the very man who had had the "legion"; and they became frightened. Those who had seen it described to them how it had happended to the demon-possessed man, and all about the swine. And they began to implore Him to leave their region. as He was getting into the boat, the man who had been demon-possessed ws imploring Him that he might accompany Him. And He did not let him, but He said the him, "Go home to your people and report to them, what great things the Lord has one for you, and how He had mercy on you."And he went away and began to proclaim in Decapolis what great things Jesus had done for him; and everyone was amazed." |

10 | Sarx | Rom 7:25 | Abide In Him | 110415
I believe we are tempted by our carnal nature but that does not mean we need to obey it. The righteous will live by faith. By faith we know that we are dead to sin but alive to God. Romans 6:6-7 "..knowing this that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no loner be slaves to sin; for he who has died is freed from sin." Romans 6:11 "Even so consider your sleves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus." Romans 6:12-12"Therefore do not let sin reigh in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts and do not go on presenting the members of our body to sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and our members as instruments of righteousness to God." Picture your old self as lying dead in a coffin. Your old self was attracted to various sins but remember that a dead person has no power over you. We are now alive in Christ and having godly desires to do what is right, lovely, pure, honorable. Colossians 3:5 Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry.." Colossians 3:9-11 "Do not lie to one another, since you laid aside the old self with its evil practices, and have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him" |

11 | Soma | Rom 7:25 | Abide In Him | 110419
Paul, being human like us, acknowledges the internal conflict in believers. In Romans he is building his case for true life in Christ. I believe, that, while Paul was "poetically" crying out, he already knew the answer to his question as evidenced in the very next versea. Romans 7:25 "Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, on the one hand I myself with my mind am serving the law of God, but on the other, with my flesh the law of sin." Romans 8:1-2 "Therefore there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jeus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death." Romans 8:11-13 "But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to you mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. So then, brethren, we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh-- for if yo are living according to the flesh, you must die, but if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live." |
