1 | Spirit without measure???? | John 3:34 | shamrock | 175924
When John the Baptist was testifying about Jesus, he made this statement. I'm kind of confused about what this means, because the King James Version adds "unto Him" at the end of the verse, and others don't. With "unto Him" added, it would be very clear that the Spirit was given to Jesus without measure. And if so, would it be referring to when He was baptized, when the Spirit rested upon Him or was He born with the full measure of the Spirit? Or... since some of the other versions I've checked don't have "unto Him" at the end of the verse, would "He" who gives the Spirit without measure be referring to God or Jesus. If it's God is the spirit being given to Jesus without measure or to all believers. If the "He" is Jesus, it would have to be all believers. Sorry I had to form the question like this, but couldn't figure out a simpler way to phrase it. Thanks for your thoughts, God Bless, Pat |

2 | The Transfiguration of Christ | Matt 17:2 | shamrock | 174071
Matt 17:1-13; Mark 9:2-13; Luke 9:28-36 The trasfiguration of our Lord... Is there anywhere in scripure that would support this being a vision? Did the Lord anywhere in scripture explain to the diciples that this was a vision and not an actual occurance, meaning being live and in person. Is there any scripture that one could use which might support a vision by innuendo. The only thing I could find Jesus telling his diciples is to not reveal what they saw, which leads me to the conclusion and belief this was an actual occurance and not a vision. Thank you, Pat |

3 | Could you clarify for me? | 1 Tim 6:12 | shamrock | 174065
Thank you for your answer. Could I ask you if you agree with elektos and mark? I only ask this because you say 'Putting our faith in Him is a fight daily'. Does that mean a fight within ourselves, like resisting evil... or a fight with out, like with others, be it Christian or non Christian? I hope this type of question is acceptable to the forum. If not, I appologize. I've only been here a short time. Pat |

4 | Another question - Fight the good Fight | 1 Tim 6:12 | shamrock | 174011
Thank you for the welcome. You have helped greatly, by confirming what I believe Fight the good Fight means. Now, can I ask you if there is any place in scripture which supports disputing or arguing your Faith on disputed biblical matters. The reason I ask is that someone very learned told me this is my Christian duty using Fight the good Fight as proof, and mentioning Spiritual Warfare, saying If you don't participate in the 'hostilities' of spiritual warfare then how are you 'fighting the good fight'? This is contrary to all my experience as a Christian. I've always believed that Spiritual Warefare is Fighting the good Fight as you've described it and I believe it to be. But I am a growing Christian of 43 yrs and must take into account that I may have missed this or not discerned it properly. And since I seem to be in the minority, I need to settle this in my heart. I'm always ready to give an answer in support of my faith, but not with hostility. I hope you understand what I'm trying to say. Thanks, Pat |
