1 | We are on the same page | John 9:3 | TerryM | 9899
OK...we are on the same page. I agree...God has a hand in our creation. When we are formed we are given certain abilities, talents, gifts, etc. to accomplish the purpose God has ordained for us. Now my question is, are our inabilities, inadequacies, deficienties, weaknesses, etc. also given to us? Do they play a part in God's plan? Terry |

2 | I do not agree | John 9:3 | TerryM | 9790
I do not fully agree with you that we were not created by God. God may not have created us the way he created Adam and Eve, but I believe He has a hand in our creation. Acts 17:24 says "God made the world and all things therein". In verse 26 it says, "and hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth and hath determined the times before appointed and the bounds of their habitation". Jeremiah says the Lord came and told him that he knew him before he was formed in his mother's womb and He sanctified and appointed him a prophet unto all nations (Jeremiah 1:5). An angel of the Lord told Zacharias that his wife would have a child and what he would be like (Luke 1:13-17). So...doesn't God have a hand in our creation?? Terry |

3 | Thank you... | John 9:3 | TerryM | 9782
Thank you for your very personal and thought provoking response. It was not my intention to solicite answers but only opnions. I do realize that some secrets will not be revealed until Jesus returns. But in doing my studies, no matter what the subject, I am always directed back to what our purpose is in God's plan. I have never suffered the loss of a child and I can not begin to imagine the pain. But the loss of my father 4 years ago was a turning point in my life. My prayed faithfully and without ceasing for the healing of my father (he had lupus) and God's answer was no. I went through an angry period where I turned away from God. My father and I were very, very close and I always consulted him on major decisions. After that, I went through a weeding out process where I was separated from people I relied on (family and friends). Then I came to the point where I had no one to rely on but God. And that is exactly where He wanted me. I could not hear the voice of God as long as I was listening to others. When you hear that age old "everything happens for a reason" line, you just want to smack that person. But now I have come to know that that is true. Everything that has happened to me so far in my life has brought me to this point where I am now...humbly seeking the Lord for my part in His plan. Every since I made the leap of faith and answered my call to the ministry, every person that the Lord has led to me I have been able to minister to based on past experiences. Did I go through all that I did so I could be of service in God's kingdom? Was I placed in my mother's womb and given certain traits, abilities, inabilities, and shortcomings so that I could fall and be delivered so I could help others? At this point I believe the answer is yes. I am not making generalizations and saying that this is true for everybody. But I believe that God what God has allowed in my life has brought me to this point. Terry |

4 | Born to be healed | John 9:3 | TerryM | 9647
In preparing for a sermon on our purpose in God's plan, the spirit lead me to John 9: 1-3. Jesus says that it was not the sin of this man nor his parents that caused his blindness, but so that that the works of God could be made manifest in him. This man was created blind so that he could come to Jesus and be healed. That was his purpose in the plan. That brings to mind my question. When we are created, we are given talents/gifts/abilities to accomplish the purpose that God has for us (Romans 12:6, Ephesians 4:7,12). But in creating us, does God also create our weakness? For example, the man born blind that Jesus healed, the person with addictions who later becomes a great deliverance minister, the person healed of a disease that leads others to Christ through his faith, etc. What are your thoughts on this? What was the physical condition given to Paul that became the "thorn in his flesh"? Terry |

6 | This is my point exactly! | Josh 19:40 | TerryM | 2827
This is my point exactly! Why pick on Dan? If we are not to take it literally , then why list any tribe at all? There has to be some significance in this omission.
7 | I know that those | 1 Corinthians | TerryM | 2658
I know that those who do not accept Christ will be punished and suffer the consequences. I am asking about the nature of that punishment. Some think the punishment will be for an eternity...torment in the lake of fire forever. some think the punishment will be permanentor will come to an end...put in the lake of fire which will cause death. What is your opnion?
8 | This is true... | Col 2:16 | TerryM | 2587
This is true...we were talking about the motives of a Christian. Maybe I'm using the word wrong here...help me out. Before we are created, God has a specific plan/purpose for us to fulfill. Some people are predestined to do certain things. Before He can use us to further this plan, we have to be in a "place" in our spiritual lives. To get us to that "place" God will frustrate our plans until we end up right where He wants us. Everything will fail until there is nothing or no one else but God. When we are at this "place", and we allow ourselves to be put on the potter's wheel, then God can mold and shape us into the vessel He chooses. Now...I do believe we have some responsibility in this...we must take a step and make that decision to be molded. But I also believe that if God predetermined that he would use me for a specific plan, then He NEEDS me to get to that "place" so He can use me for that purpose. I didn't say GOD needs to work in our hearts, I said He needs us to do certain things so that He can use us. And the way that we can become that vessel is through teaching, studying and worship, which leads to an intimate relationship with God. Am I making sense? |

9 | So are you saying | Josh 19:40 | TerryM | 2570
So are you saying that it was an oversight that that John left Dan out of the listing? That those sealed are any 144,000? That John was not referring literally to the tribes of Israel but just those who believe in Him? If so, then why list any tribe at all it is just "heavenly picture if the Church"? Dont' get me wrong. I am not questioning the validity of your answer. I am just not throughly convinced that it is as simple as that. Why do people always say not to take Revelation literally? How do we know what to take literally and what not to take literally? Am I to believe that those who reject God will be consumed in a "lake of fire", that the priests of God and Christ "shall reign with him 1000 years", that no man will be able to buy or sell unless he has "the mark or the name of the beast", but not that the tribe of Dan be included among the "sealed servants of our God"? |

10 | Ok...I got you now. | 1 Corinthians | TerryM | 2559
Ok...I got you now. I like the idea of knowing that God, knowing that we will reject Him and cause Him pain, still loves us enough to give us a second chance. Which brings to mind another question concerning the "lake of fire". Will those who will spend eternity in the lake of fire be tormented eternally or will this judgement result in a "second death"? I am a little confused on this point. |

11 | Where is Dan? | Josh 19:40 | TerryM | 2535
Rev.7:4-8 lists the tribes of the children of Israal. These are the 144,000 who will receive the Seal of God. Why is the tribe of Dan not listed? In Numbers, Moses is asked to do a census and lists the original tribes. The Levites weres not counted in the census because they were appointed over the tabernacle. Dan was included in this census. Among those listed in Revelation, is the tribe of Joseph (which I take to include of the Ephraim). All tribes are accounted for except Dan. Can anyone give insight on this? |

12 | I need clarification please | 1 Corinthians | TerryM | 2458
I am confused (maybe it's becaues I haven't had coffee yet...smile), can you calrify your answer for me? Are you saying that God knew or did not know Adam was going to disobey Him? Are you saying that He knew those who were going to sin and that punishment was planned for those individuals? Forgive me if I seem a little dense, but I'm just trying to understand you. THANKS! |

13 | Did God know Adam would sin? | 1 Corinthians | TerryM | 2370
I was in a discussion yesterday with someone of the Jehovah's Witness faith. He made a statement that God could not have known that Adam was going to sin. If so, then why would God condemn Adam for disobeying. He said that would mean that God was not a loving God. Therefore, God did not know Adam would sin. I disagreed. This would be limiting God's power if He did not know something would happen. I believe that God knew Adam would sin. But He gave him the freedom to choose for himself whether to obey God. Just like we warn our children against some things and tell them the consequences of disobeying, God does the same with us. God, as well as parents, have to follow through on our words or they are ineffective. I believe God is an all-powerful, all-knowing, all-present God. It is us that fall short. I would appreciate your views on this matter. |

14 | 7th day | Col 2:16 | TerryM | 2047
Where is your scriputural reference for SATURDAY is the Sabbath? It says "Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day [is] the sabbath of the LORD thy God..." |

15 | GEt back up | Revelation | TerryM | 1998
So you are of the belief that "once saved, always saved". Am I correct in saying this? If so, how do yo account for backsliders? You know, those people who are saved and fall. There is a song out now that sums it up beautifully... "A saint is just a sinner who fell down and tehn got up" (Get Back Up Again, Donnie McClurklan) |

16 | God's spirt | Revelation | TerryM | 1908
I understood this to be referring to man's mortality. That his days are numbered at 120 years. I don't this is a reference to God hardening His heart when men seek Him. God's spirit does not dwell with the dead.
17 | Mark of the Beast | Revelation | TerryM | 1856
I always saw receiving the "mark of the beast" as a form of blasphemy. Therefore there can be no forgiveness of this. What are your thoughts on this? Could this be where the belief came from that there will be a time when God's heart is hardened? Can someone receive the mark and still be saved?
18 | Point of No Return | Revelation | TerryM | 1725
There is a belief that there will be a point of no return in the end times. A time when those unbelievers will want to come to God and He will harden His heart. I thought this only referred to those took the mark of the beast. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? |

19 | Beginning of Bondage | Gen 47:20 | TerryM | 1507
Genesis 47 recounts Joseph's plan during the famine in Egypt. People sold their possesions for food and when there was nothing left to sell, they sold themselves. Was this the beginning of slavrey for the Israelites? |
