1 | Was God sinning? | Bible general Archive 4 | Morant61 | 197184
Greetings Julie! So, was God sinning when He commanded the Israelites to go to war against other nations? Were the Israelites sinning when they obeyed Him? Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

2 | Fallen will? | Bible general Archive 4 | Morant61 | 209557
Greetings Doc! You wrote: "The Lord's eternal purpose isn't to enthrone the fallen human will. The sovereignty of the human self determinism is a shaky foundation, theologically, philosophically, practically, and biblically. God won't share His glory." Where in any of my posts have I said that God was enthroning the fallen human will? Paul makes it quite clear why and how we are able to live holy lives. Consider the following: Rom. 6:1-5 tells us that holiness is grounded in the death and resurrection of Christ. Rom. 6:6 tells us that our 'old man' was crucified with Christ. Rom. 6:13 tells us that we have been 'brought' from death to life (passive voice). Rom. 6:18 tells us that we have been set free from sin (Aorist, passive, participle - past action done for us). Rom. 6:22 tells us that we receive the 'benefit' of holiness from Christ setting us free from sin. Rom. 8:2 tells us that we are set free from the Law of sin and death 'through Christ Jesus.' Rom. 8:4 tells us that the 'righteous requirements of the law are fully met in us' because of God's actions in sending Christ. Rom. 8:9 tells us that we are able to live holy lives because 'we are controlled by the Spirit'. Rom. 8:13 tells us that the misdeeds of the body are put to death through the Spirit. Where is any of this based upon the supposed enthroning of the fallen human will? Where is any of this an effort to wrest glory from God? Please respond with examples and Scripture! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

3 | Why did the KJV include these verses? | Bible general Archive 2 | Morant61 | 110269
Greetings Ken John! Allow me to ask you the question from the other perspective. Why exactly did the KJV include these verses? After you have addressed that question my friend, then I would ask, 'Why did modern translation not include these verses?' Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

4 | Scriptural Support? | Bible general Archive 2 | Morant61 | 126096
Greetings Rowdy! We have been having a lot of discussion lately on the forum about things that are and are not actually stated in Scripture. You wrote: "Yes, my friend, we do live in an age of miracles but directly from God to the recipient, no human 3rd party intervening or channeling God's power like in the first century with Apostles." Where is the Scripture that makes this statement? I do not know of any such Scripture. I also not that you do not qualify your statement of fact by saying that it is simply opinion. If we are to make statements of fact about spiritual things, shouldn't there be at least one Scripture to back them up? Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

5 | Scripture or opinion? | Bible general Archive 2 | Morant61 | 128807
Greetings Chesed! So, are you saying that Scripture was wrong when it applies Zech. 9 to Jesus? Was Jesus mistaken when He sent them to get a donkey and a foal? Rather than Matthew or Jesus reading IT ideas into the OT, you seem to be reading your ideas into the NT. :-( Using this approach to interpretation, you can make the Bible say anything you want, regardless of what it actually says. My approach is quite simple. If the NT says that something fulfilled an OT prophecy, than it did! Even if we didn't understand the prophecy in that way, I'll go with God's word on it. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

Greetings Jlpwilley! Jesus (in Greek) is simply the Greek form of the Hebrew name Joshua. Where did you get that Jesus means 'Hail Zeus'? Jesus means 'Yahweh saves'. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

7 | Scriptural evidence? | Bible general Archive 2 | Morant61 | 131843
Greetings Doc! You wrote: "Ed, the truth of a doctrine cannot be verified by the number of people who adhere to it. Just as the truth of a doctrine cannot be falsified by the number of people who abuse it. We need to carefully search the scriptures, and test the fruit of the adherents, as we are commanded." Yet, the arguement of this entire thread seems to be that very few have practiced it over the years; therefore, tongues must have passed away. :-) There is only one verse in the entire Bible that mentions the gift of tongues ceasing. That same verse also mentions prophesy and knowledge ceasing as well. The timing of this 'ceasing' is absolutely vague, to say the least. So, let's lay aside the historical arguement (which really carries no authority anyway), and address what Scripture actually says. What is your Scriptural case that tongues are no longer valid? Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

8 | Evidence? | Bible general Archive 2 | Morant61 | 138112
Greetings Shankara! You wrote: "You have to be careful about rendering the word "evil" from ancient Hebrew to English, particularly as it is read from Isaiah 45:7. This is where a great deal of confusion among Protestants and Catholics gets turned around. The word here means not "evil" as we understand it, but more in the meaning of the word "confusion"" What is your evidence for this statement? Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

9 | Please tell me you are not! :-) | Bible general Archive 2 | Morant61 | 138682
Greetings He-man! Please tell me that you are not buying into that common cult practice of trying to connect Lucifer with 'the morning star' in the New Testament! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

10 | What does Rev. 2:28 indicate to you? | Bible general Archive 2 | Morant61 | 138730
Greetings He-man! And what do you make of this? In Is. 14:12, the phrase 'morning star' refers to the glory of an earthly king. In Rev. 22:16, the phrase clearly refers to Christ. In Rev. 2:28 and 2 Pet. 1:19, it may refer to Christ. However, the fact that a similar phrase is used of Christ in the New Testament does not mean that Is. 14:12 refers to Christ! 13 | Scriptural support? | Bible general Archive 2 | Morant61 | 140731
Greetings AO! First of all, which of the Scriptures that you cited mention anything other than idols? Secondly, Mt. 23:5 has to do with things done for the wrong reasons, not with jewlery. Using this line of arguement, one would have to argue that it is wrong to sit at a table! :-) So, where does Scripture say that someone cannot wear any kind of jewlery? 14 | In what way is it clear? | Bible general Archive 2 | Morant61 | 146003
Greetings Merv! First of all, welcome to the forum! Secondly, in what way is it clear that the 'he' of Dan. 9:27 refers to Christ? Do you believe that Christ is also the one who will set up the abomination mentioned in 9:27? Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

15 | Time for Worship? | Bible general Archive 1 | Morant61 | 4906
Hi Steve! 1) Words. From your two posts, I'm assuming that you feel that worship should be done in a certain position. I will grant that many of the words for worship included the idea of bowing or prostrating one's self before someone or something else. However, is this an essential part of worship or a cultural part of worship? In other words, does the fact that most people then bowed to worship mean that we must as well? Are there any Scriptures that proscribe the way in which we must worship? 2) Translations. I really didn't see any problems with the tranlations that I checked. Do you have any specific examples? 3) Teachings. You lost me on this one! You saw only 2 of what 200 teachings? Who are they? I have enjoyed the study I have been doing of some of these words. However, the biggest problem I see in worship is simply that we don't allow ourselves enough time to really experience God's presence. We rush through our worship services. We rush through our devotions. We never (or at least seldom) slow down enough to worship. Tim Moran |

16 | One Source or Several? | Bible general Archive 1 | Morant61 | 6958
Great post Rextar! I did have one question though! It is my understanding that the Majority and the Testus Receptus are not based upon the Byzantine manuscripts only. They simply give more weight to them because they are more numerous. However, they both use manuscripts from many different areas. In the same way, the Critical text does rely only upon Alexandrian manuscripts. It simply gives more weight to their readings because of the perceived quality of the manuscripts and their early date. I especially appreciated your comments about the quality of the text that we have in the Bible. To me, this is one of the great evidences for the inspiration and continuing protection of God's Word by the Holy Spirit. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

17 | Is Entire Sanctification Scriptural? | Bible general Archive 1 | Morant61 | 7338
Greetings Forum! I would appreciate your help. I am currently doing a study of sanctification. I am especially interested in the doctrine of Entire Sanctification. Here is my question: Is there any support for the doctrine of Entire Sanctification in the Bible? This is not a trick question. I am in the process of studying this issue and have an open mind to whatever the Bible says. So, if you have any comments (based upon Scripture) either for or against this doctrine, I would appreciate hearing from you. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

18 | Key a Mason? | Bible general Archive 1 | Morant61 | 9058
Greetings Brandi! I just had one quick question: Are you sure Francis Scott Key was a Mason? I'm a member of the United Brethren in Christ, as was Francis Scott Key, and they have always had a prohbition against membership in the Mason's. Just curious! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

19 | Rapture and Day of the Lord the Same? | Bible general Archive 1 | Morant61 | 9389
Greetings Elijah! Thanks for the clarification! I consider myself a pre-wrath rapture person. So, I have no particular attachment to a pre-tribulation rapture. However, there is enough uncertainty that I am willing to allow lots of wiggle room. For instance, in your exegesis of 2 Thes. 2:1-3, it could be that the "Day of the Lord" is different from the events described in verse one. It seems that the Thessalonians were being exposed to some false teaching that basically said (v. 2) that the "Day of the Lord" had already come. This caused concern among the new Christians because if the "Day of the Lord" had already come then that would mean that they had missed the rapture (v.1). Therefore, Paul argues in verses 2 and 3 that the "Day of the Lord" cannot come until certain things happen, as you pointed out it your post. The problem though is does "Day of the Lord" refer to the rapture or does it refer to the Day of Judgement which takes place after the tribulation and the millenium? I will try to do a word study on that phrase a little later! The best advice I have ever heard concerning the rapture is: Pray for Pre, but be prepared for Post! The important thing is that we live for Him everyday and in everyway, until He comes. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

20 | Who translated the NWT? | Bible general Archive 1 | Morant61 | 12096
Greetings Elijah! I too have done some research on the so called "New World Translation." It is a fraud. However, since you seem to put some stock in it, let me ask you a couple of questions! 1) Who translated it? 2) What are their qualifications? If you can't answer these two simple questions, then you shouldn't be using the translation. In Christ, Tim Moran |
