1 | Preparing for the unexpected or inevitab | 1 Sam 7:3 | jjleader | 159577 | ||
I was wanting to discuss with my SS class about preparation. Being prepare for the inevitable in life's walk. Also the tragically that may strike unexpectly. Like terror attacks, fire,unexpected medical results, etc. I was thinking in Josuha there is something about being prepared. Also I thought about Joseph making preparation for the drought. |

Dear jjleader, Mark and Matt have given you good answers. I would add a couple of thoughts: A proper understanding of God equips us in ways that no other kind of preparation can do. The better I understand His nature, and His complete and providential control over all things, the better I am able to deal appropriately in life with the daily things I face, as well as the horrific things that come -- thank you, Lord -- relatively infrequently. Consequently, I believe that knowledge of God is the root of all preparedness. The second thing is a proper understanding of myself. I must know my standing before God. I must understand what my tendencies are and plan ahead to deal with those tendencies when they would not comply with Scriptural principles. No math student would go to a test without preparation. Would the student work out at the gymn, pack supplies, or build a fortification? :-) No, tests are prepared for through knowledge! Perhaps this analogy will help us all. In Him, Doc |
