1 | Was this really Samuel's spirit? | 1 Sam 28:11 | budderfligh | 201898
Dear Sister Azure, Thank you for taking the time to send me the link. The commentary confirms my interpretation of this event. It was good to read M.Henry's detailed rendering of this scripture. I read the forum regularly and have learned much from it. May I say that your kindness is a light that always shines brightly on this forum. Blessings in Christ, budderfligh |

2 | Was this really Samuel's spirit? | 1 Sam 28:11 | azurelaw | 201942
Dear budderfligh, This is a follow up note that I hope you would have read the discussion among Sister Val, Brother WOS and me. I think Val (post 201923) has made a good point in correcting my post (201839) concerning the point about the devil spirit. I believe you will also do a comparison on Metthew Henry's and others' in the link provided as well as with the scripture. I also agree with WOS' observation (post 201934) that the case is a devine intervention as some scholars had noted that it was a special miracle of God's intervention as was in the case recorded in Mat 17:3 - the spirit of the dead (Moses)appeared. So, it is reasonable to believe that it's Samuel's spirit talking to Saul with God's approval. How so good it is that there are always brothers and sisters here to correct you (i.e. me)! This is truly the exercise of love. (Proverb 27:5) Shalom Azure |
