1 | Saul and David - knew him or not? | 1 Sam 17:56 | 2ndSamuel22 | 52466
Dear prayon, The key(as pointed out by the great Matthew Henry) is in I Samuel 17:15, which mentions David returning home to feed his father's sheep at Bethlehem. Thus, Saul may not have even imagined that the lad would show up on the battlefield. Also, Saul probably did not think a boy of "fair countenance" who was "cunning on the harp" could defeat such a formidable foe as Goliath. Continue in praise, lifting up holy hands!! 2nd Samuel 22 |

2 | Saul and David - knew him or not? | 1 Sam 17:56 | Norrie | 52469
If in 1Sam 16:19 Saul sent for David at Jesse's house, unless this isn't in chronological order, it would seem that Saul knew David already. Plus he was going to give David his armor so if David had already been playing for him, surely he knew him?
