2 | U dont repent but confess, are U forgive | NT general | EdB | 237266 | ||
Every admonishment in the New Testament dealing with salvation specifies repentance. Repentance means turning away. So when you repent of sin you turn from sin. In the case you have laid out the person regrets the sin but does not want to stop the sin. In other words they want their cake and to eat it too. We all know you can't have both. I suspect the person that is doing this is addicted to the sin. In that case they can pray that God will help them break that addiction. Again read what I said, they can pray that God will help THEM. They must initiate turning from the sin. How is God going to judge a Christian caught up in addiction? I don't know because addiction as we understand it isn't discussed as such in scripture. But I believe addiction will not be an excuse. The person is caught up in sin and they must with God's help cut the cords that bind them. Jesus has provided the way but they must take it. |
