Newwine: Your profile is interesting to read. I wish others would follow your example and tell us something about themselves as you have done so well. This may seem trifle, but we don't "accept" Christ. We must surrender to Christ. To surrender to the calling of the Holy Spirit who convicts us of our sinfullness and our need to surrender to the Love, Mercy, Grace of Gods love and pardon by His one and only Son Jesus Christ. Most misunderstood is the fact Jesus accepts us just as we are. The two phrases I fell do wrong in an invitation aor "ask Jesus into your heart" and "to accept Jesus" inreality the idea is there but the words are not well chosen at all. Now, for free will. If mankind does not have free will to surrender or free will to reject the pleads of the Holy Spirit, then missionaries are a waste of time. Unless a person takes a verse out of context, you can't find a verse that says we do not have free will. Read John 3 as a total text and see if you follow what I mean. I would encourage you to reconsider what tou say in your User Info. There are some good commentaries that have come out in the last 30 years, so don't be so negative. Blessings NewWine. justme |

Hi justme: you say: This may seem trifle, but we don't "accept" Christ. We must surrender to Christ. To surrender to the calling of the Holy Spirit who convicts us of our sinfullness and our need to surrender to the Love, Mercy, Grace of Gods love and pardon by His one and only Son Jesus Christ. Most misunderstood is the fact Jesus accepts us just as we are. answer: I agree whole heartedly, Jesus does accept us just as we are, but that, still does not mean, we can't reject him as many do. True we do surrender to the calling of the Holy Spirit, His convicting us of our sins, and the revealing of Jesus to us as savior. But the accepting of Jesus, or the surrendering to the Holy Spirit, are 2 sides of the same coin. The Value of that coin is determined by our decision. We either inherit the Kingdom, or eternal damnation. For even an Enemy on a battlefield has to exert his will to surrender, because surrender is not a process that can take place without a decision being made. We do have to decide to surrender, accepting the conditions of that surrender. example: There was a rich young ruler that called Jesus Good, so he knew what he was saying was life, but when this good Jesus said, sell all give to the poor, this young man rejected the offer to become perfect. So in essance I am saying, I agree with what you have said, we do have a "free will", we can accept, reject, surrender, or refuse to surrender. Blessings In Christ Nevvvvine |
