Hi, Brother Jeff... You wrote, "It's not our place to ever tell someone their going to Hell..." (sic) I don't mean to be contrary, but I certainly think it is our place to recognize that someone is not saved. Continuing with your quote from Matthew 7, Christ said to us, "You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thorn bushes, or figs from thistles? So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus you will recognize them by their fruits. Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven." (Matthew 7:16-21 ESV) We must never, ever render assurance where the Scripture does not give it. The diseased tree CANNOT bear healthy fruit and the healthy tree CANNOT bear diseased fruit. The internal state of a man is not visible, but his character is visible! It is far, far better for a man to have doubt and be saved than for a man to be assured and be lost. In Him, Doc |

Greetings Doc, I just wanted to tell you something I discovered one time in witnessing to a person who would not give up a particular sin. I forgot which book I was studying at the time but the point was that a person who has the Holy Spirit will be convicted of sin. I ask during this time if that person was ever convicted that what they were doing, since the bible said it was wrong, were they ever convicted that what they were doing was wrong. Upon saying no I then said well maybe you don't have the Holy Spirit because the bible says if you do have the Holy Spirit, He will convict you of sin. To make a long story short the person did forsake that besetting sin. All praise to the Lord. I just wanted to share that with you. Blessings Val |

Yes, having a real encounter with God always results in visible change. Just like having a real encounter with an 80 ton truck on the freeway results in visible change. As Christ said, the two kinds of trees can do nothing but what is in their nature. Sorry... off to church now. |
