I have the Bible and ... Well let us just say I can't say it is my favorite. I have been given the definite impression Lifeway and SBC decided to do it after the betrayal of publishers of the NIV. I believe their thinking was do it themselves and they would be able to control it themselves. Most every denomination was forced to spend a ton of money shifting Sunday School material over from NIV when it became modernized. NASB is an excellent Bible but I find it nearly impossible to quote from it reading aloud, the sentence structure simply tongue ties me. Therefore I use the NASB for personal study and other versions to preach from. Although the updated version is much better I still don't feel comfortable reading aloud from it. NLT is probably the best especially for people that have English as a second language. I find if I use the KJV I simply must spend to much precious time explaining the meaning of archaic words. |

Thanks for your opinion. I have looked at a rather cheap one for 49 dollars, is not really cheap but it looked cheap to me. It's the notes that I have heard that are very good, is that true? My wife thinks we would like the Charles Stanley stydy Bible better. We have about 10 different study Bibles. And we just look for goodies we did not alrady know. Blessings | ||||||

Justme, Good day brother. Unfortunately a good study bible can get expensive. I've owned a couple of Thomson's and I'm looking at a MacArthur study bible that's outstanding and giving serious consideration to adding to my library. Both of em would be good investment's. In Him, lionheart |
