1 | Can you continue to sin an go to heaven? | Bible general Archive 4 | saved and filled | 236501
No, the scripture does not say that people can continue to sin (deliberately), while professing to be saved, and still go to heaven. Matt 5:20 "For I say to you that unless your righteousness surpass that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven." Scribes, who copied the scriptures from worn out scrolls to new ones, would have known what was in them better than many others of their time. But they were obviously not living by the words they were reading in the Old Testament, since Jesus said they were not righteous enough to enter heaven. Jesus, in another place, called the Pharisees hypocrites. And stated in the above verse that they also were not righteous enough to enter heaven. (They were even sacrificing pigs on the alters of God.) We have but to look around us to see that many people are already living in hell and don't know it. I ask God daily to search my heart and expose to me anything in me that is in opposition to him, so that I might repent it quickly. |

(I could not figure out how to place a seperate answer to this question sorry) There are several places that speak of this. Heb 10:26-. Along with Romans 6:1- are very good examples saying that once saved our disire is to please God and not to sin. We will stumble. The spirit of willing but the flesh is weak Mat 26:41. I think the key is if we know what we are doing is wrong we sin. If we mess up and do not listen to the conviction of the Holy Spirit and do not repent we sin. Being saved is by far not Diplomatic immunity
