Does The Bible Forbid Migration To Other Lands? I have come across some verses in the Bible which would suggest it is not permissible for peoples to migrate. This is a concern for me as my ancestors migrated from Europe to Oceania. 1) In the Book of Deuteronomy 32:8 it is written: "When the Most High gave the nations their inheritance, when he divided all mankind, he set up boundaries for the peoples according to the number of the sons of Israel." 2) In the Book of Acts 17:26 it is written: "From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands." Do these verses suggest that migration away from the boundaries the Lord Almighty has already set for peoples is impermissible? |

I imagine the American Indian wished we hadn't migrated. While I think you are trying to make a prohibition where one doesn't exist. For example Abraham migrated from the land of his fathers to a land that God showed him. We also know the spread of Christianity is mainly done by migration of Christians to the rest of the world. That said I think sometimes we are too willing to accept what society has to offer rather than retain what of forefathers have given us. |

9 Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the Lord did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the Lord scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth. Genesis 11 God himself scattered mankind over the whole earth not only to separate the people, but he knows the end and we don't. He knew that in order for his plan for humanity to come to pass he would see new nations rise from this episode, a Christian nation whereby millions would come to know him. It was part of his plan. |
