Greetings wejlly, Thank you for the testimony. Can you imagine what the believers, in Jesus, thought as they were going through the horrors of the dark days of World War II? I believe things are going to get so bad before the Lord’s return that even believers, so called, will fall away from their churches; but “are they of us, as John would say”. Paul informs us: 2 Thes. 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; I am convinced that the Lord will put off His return to allow that last loving soul to repent and trust in the finished works of Christ before he returns. 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. The general train of thought is that the Lord will return soon, but “what if” He delays His coming and returns when things are so miserable that we can barely stand it along with all the persecution and testing? It’s easy to remain ready when things are going smooth but we are warned numerous times of a possible delay. Matthew 24:44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. Our condition might be so dire that the following could be true due to excessive persecution. Luke 17:22 And he said unto the disciples, The days will come, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and ye shall not see it. This parable would certainly fit the model of our earnest prayer for deliverance in a time when the adversary could be having his way with the elect. Rev. 13:7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. Luke 18:1-8 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; 2Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man: 3And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary. 4And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; 5Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. 6And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. 7And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? 8I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? I hope that the faith of many won’t fail because they had been taught that they wouldn’t suffer such things because Paul says otherwise. 2 Thes. 1:4-10 So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure: 5Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer: 6Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you; 7And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, 8In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: 9Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; 10When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day. Have a great day and “remain steadfast”, CDBJ |
