My local Wesley Owen Manager managed to discover this for us (many thanks to Richard Morris!) I'll paste his answer here: "Here’s the answer from another store manager who has a Pitt Minion NASB Why Pitt Minion? The Pitt Building (in Cambridge), built to house the (Cambridge University) Press and named after William Pitt, Prime Minister of Britain and Member Parliament for Cambridge University, lent the name to series of Pitt Press publications from the nineteenth century onwards. Minion is a traditional term for a type size approximately 7 point, giving text of about 10-11 lines to the inch.” So, very small type, as used and originated at Cambridge University! Hope this isn't too late to help with your decision! Interesting anyway!! |

Greetings to TC from Coventry :: Thank you for the helpful hints about the the Cambridge University Press series of Pitt Minion Bibles. I'd read something of the history of this series before, but the details had escaped me, although I remembered that the font size was rather small, too small for a septuagenarian like me to read with comfort. Does your user name reflect your location: are you a resident of Coventry, UK? --HH from Arkansas, USA. | ||||||
