Hi Rajeeb, King David was a mighty warrior and, he was called a man after God's own heart. Gideon was hiding in a winepress from the Midianites when the Lord appeared to him and said, perhaps facetiously: "The LORD is with you, O valiant warrior." Judges 6:12b, And then He (the Lord) compelled him in v14 to go and fight the Midianites. Jesus also said: "Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13 The Bible, and more specifically our Lord, does say to love your neighbor, but the Bible does not say to give up your arms in order to do that. Jesus also told His disciples to buy swards, (Luke 22-36) though he didn't specifically say to use them. But He also did not ask the centurion to put down his sward before he would heal his servant. (Matt 8:5-13) Loving your neighbor, can sometimes mean, standing up and fighting for him if he is to weak to fight in order to protect himself from evil men. John |
