1 | Buddha statue in a house of a christian. | Bible general Archive 4 | humility | 214384
Dear Chumba, I'm a christian, and I carry an empty bottle of an extremely high alcoholic substance around in my back pack everytime I go to work. To the carnally minded person, the first thing that would come to mind if they were to see that, would be, "He's a drunkard" or "He's a sinner". But to the spiritually minded person, they look beyond the bottle and get to know me. And by doing that, they find out "Why" I carry the bottle around in my back-pack. I take the bottle around just in case the topic of drinking alcoholic beverages is right or wrong based on God's word. So Chumba, it's not really the question of whether it's right for a christian to have a statue of Buddha in his or her house, it's "Why does he or she have it?" Jesus said, "Judge not according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgement". Romans chapter 14 is another way of finding truth about this matter.

humility: I found your note interesting. I was not sure what the alcoholic subsatnce in you back pack had to do with your answer. As you said I want to get to know you. Perhaps this is a tool for witnessing that I have not used or thought about before. Would you be so kind as to explain this more to me? I sincerely thank you as sometimes I do deal with those who are living for what the bottle gives. Blessings. justme |

3 | humility, help me understand. | Bible general Archive 4 | lionheart | 214526
justme, Far be it from me to cast doubt or question on anyone. Being a recovering alcoholic I can understand his thinking to a point, but I've found over the years the best tools we have as disciples of Jesus Christ are His Word and the Changed life we have as a result of his Lordship over our lives. 4 | humility, help me understand. | Bible general Archive 4 | justme | 214533
lionheart: I agree with yoy totally. The idea seemed pretty farout, and it seems to me thetemptation might be to great to drink some. The idea was to me risky. Drinking has not been one of my struggles, but there are plenty of other sins that I do battle with. However I have been involved in several persons lives who really struggled with drinking. Your advice is the very best. Blessings. justme |

Hi justme The answer that (humbled) gave is confusing at best, even when it is understood. But the idea isn't risky at all, or any fear of temptation even though it is farout. To fully grasp his answer, you at first have to understand that he said it was an (EMPTY) bottle. "I'm a christian, and I carry an empty bottle of an extremely high alcoholic substance around in my back pack everytime I go to work." Vintage68 |
