Dear Shosh, The precise date in which Roman Christians began to gather in synagogues in Rome is unknown. There are apocryphal traditions that are contradictory. The earliest possibility of their founding would have been by Roman Jewish converts present at the day of Pentecost (Acts 2). Peter was said to have been present in Rome as early as 42 AD. Although, given other events that we can correlate from Acts, this, too, seems questionable. Another tradition states that Barnabas was the first to preach the gospel in the city of Rome sometime prior to 50 AD. I've never found documentation capable of unequivocally settling the question.
