1 | God sanctions murder of the innocent? | Bible general Archive 3 | Rats Feet | 161850
If the only way we can test whether someone or something is of Christ is by testing his actions against the Bible, then surely God commanding Abraham to kill Isaac is "ungodly"? If a rather person came to tell you that God had told him to tell you to kill your child, surely you would not believe he was "of God"? How can God sanction the murder of innocent people? People can argue that God really didn't mean for Abraham to kill Isaac, yet obviously Abraham killing Isaac would have been the right thing to do, so there is no difference.

Are you implying that God didn’t know what He was doing and you could do a better job! You can assume all you want about God but God’s Word informs you that you will end up a looser in the long run. Romans 9:19-20 Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will? [20] Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus? You tell God how wrong He is and we will see how well you make out. I have read the end of the Book and my friend you will lose! God has a reason for everything that He does and sometimes he doesn’t see fit about informing us why, but He is who He is and He is right no matter what He does, even if we don’t understand it. Col. 1:16-17 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: [17] And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. I do think there is an apparent contradiction- God preaches love and forgiveness, yet he seems to allow and approve of the murder of the innocents in some areas- i.e. at Og and Heshborn. Also, if God does allow the murder of the innocent, how can we be sure what is from God, and what is not? While I admire your faith, I cannot help but think there are merits to questioning what we don't understand instead of giving up the search in the beginning as God must be right. |
