Hi, mouse... Welcome to the forum! Great to have participants from our northern neighbors! I would recommend that you try a variety of approaches to reading the Word. Remember that it is spiritual food, as important to your spiritual health as physical food is to your physical health! Read through it from front to back. Listen to it on tape. Just make it a discipline you don't neglect. You can read through the gospels at 3 chapters a day in one month. You can read through Proverbs 1 chapter a day in a month. Both are great habits to build into your life. Reading the Word is a "means of grace." In other words, it is one of the channels that God has ordained through which He will bring you grace. Also, it is His self-revelation. When you are in love with someone, you hang on their every word, you can't wait to learn more about them! Finally, the Word of God is, by His design, designed with you in mind! Think a moment and couple these three ideas. What a deal! What a blessing! God bless you as you study, learn, and read the Word. In Him, Doc |

Hi Doc. Thank you very much for your reply and warm welcome and suggestions. "When you love someone, you hang on their every word, you can't wait to learn more about them!" That's a GREAT way of putting it! This is exactly how I feel. I feel I can't get enough of God's word and want to know all I can humanly know but I do find the Bible confusing to read. But will admitt that the more I read the Bible the more it seems to make sense. I can read the same thing over and over and a month later, go back read it again and get a different personal interpretation of what I just read than the interpretation I got from that same passage a month ago. Does this make sense??? I do always pray and ask God for guidance to help me understand his word before I start reading and always feel so comforted after I have finished reading. I was told by my worship leader that I would be great at leading an Alpha Course in our church as I have never felt uneasy speaking in public and usually speak each Sunday in my church. What do you think? Anyone here done the Alpha Course? I have done the Bible study on "The Stranger on the Road To Emmaus" by John R. Cross and wonder if the Alpha course is similar? Thanks Again, Mouse |
