I am just recently born again christrian, and i want to make sure that my fiance and i will last our lifetimes, being its my second marriage and his 5th. Hi Amanda, To be unequally yoked is to be paired with someone with whom you do not share the same degree of faith, or maturity, or commitment. This is when you want to go to church 4 times a week, and do daily devotions, and your husband wants to watch football. Or if you want to give a tithe to the church, and leave it at that, and your husband wants to sell the house, the car, donate everything, and become a missionary in Africa. Unless you share the same vision as your spouse, and the same faith, there can be trouble. "A little leaven" is a little sin. If you tolerate it, you will find it everywhere. From what you have said, I would agree with you that there are some concerns about your marrying this man. I recommend the both of you see the pastor of your church for pre-marital counselling. I would recommend that you not tie the knot too quickly, but instead focus on the Bible, prayer, and fellowship with other Christians (not just him), and give yourself time to grow in the Lord before doing anything permanent. God bless you! Love in Christ, Mark |
