1 | Why children as well? | Bible general Archive 2 | EdB | 104687 | ||
Yes children can be very sinful. Look at a baby they are very self centered and if they were never trained and acted as they do as infants when mature they would kill in an instant to get what they wanted. As for adoption in those days children were a real liability and most orphans unless taken in by family were left to fend for themselves. Many would starve to death, instant death in that case may be viewed as being even merciful. Your question centers on their physical life which the Bible tell us is very short lived compared to eternity. We do not know how God handles children that die or are killed before they reach an age where they can make a choice themselves. Lastly God has declared Himself “just” therefore we have to accept that. There is no choice. What we view as being a possible or seemingly injustice really isn’t, we are just looking at it with our limited vision. The same goes for someone born blind or handicapped, we may view that as an injustice but God being “just “ will make the tally equal out at the end. I hope this provides some things to think about. Ed- I agree about the children. However, until they have attained the age of spiritual accountability (I don't know when that is but God knows) I believe the child is saved by the Blood of the Lamb who was slain from the foundation of the world. Hence David's claim, even in his grief over the loss of his first son with Bathsheba, that he would see him again in Heaven. As far as the women go, I hate to admit it, but it seems everytime you look at women who were not proper Hebrew women, they all had idols that they brought into the homes of Hebrew men and caused them to commit idolatry. God always knows what He is doing. It may seem cruel to us now, but He knows what would ultimatly happen if He wouldn't act. Am I right or wrong here? Debbie |

Dear Edb, Following your earlier notes on abortions ( if I understand correctly), is it not the same as children being unable to fend for themselves as you put earlier and to have them unborn is an act of mercy. If a mother knows that she is unable to support the child and will be heavily burderned or she is a teen and was an unfortunate raped victim, will abortion be an act of mercy in this case? Another thought about we always blame God for some unfortunate events. I had a church member baptized on 24th, became a member of the church on the 26th but died on the 28th leaving a housewife and two very young children. I dread to think how the family will go on with the sole bread earner gone. I know that I'm suppose to trust Him whatever events took place but does this not create a question mark on why he had to go especially so soon after receiving salvation ? |

Don't confuse man's mercy with God's justice and mercy. The question I was answering was why not adopt the children and I explained that children most often weren't adopted and were left to fend for themselves. However I never meant to imply God's action was simply out of mercy, because frankly I don't know, but God does. As to your point that abortion could be justified, has real holes. First a child can be adopted in this age. There are many many couples what would kill to adopt a new born. Rape is a hard one but killing the resulting baby does not mimimize the rape or its effects. If anything the mother must also carry the knowledge not only was she raped but that she also killed the baby. Abortion has terrible after effects that few want to talk about. Mercy is not killing someone, mercy is doing what ever you can to make that person's life better. As to your question of church member. Each of us are going to die, we have no promise. Evidently this man's time was up, to me it looks like God in His mercy waited until this man got saved before calling him home. Now the family can be assured their loved one is waiting for them in heaven. Why did God give his young mother and her children this path to walk? I have no idea. But this I do know God has promised to make all things work to the good of those who love him and are called to His purpose. Romans 8:11. What good is going to come out of this? I have no idea but I do know looking back from eternity we will understand and see it all and then we will proclaim God just, righteous, merciful and loving. EdB |

I apologise for the confusion there. Anyway, in my part of the world, adoption is a very slow and lengthy process (lots of red tapes) so much that it discourages adoption and that we have a lot of abandoned children in homes set up by religious establishments be it Christians, Muslims and Buddhists and are normally supported by charity. Gov assistance in my opinion is really pathetic and they are generally dependant on the charity of the public. Most of the homes are in quite poor state . That's why I thought that by having a children and then ending in these homes is not going to help them much either. Lucky ones get to go to these homes. There are also many that end up in the streets. Just my 2 cents worth. |

That is why Jesus called us to mercy, what a great way to get involved and see how many of these young lives you can effect in a positive way. EdB |
