1 | The KJV is the most accurate? | Bible general Archive 2 | justme | 104465 | ||
kalos:-) Greetings brother. I have a Word for Word reprint of the orignal First Edition of the Authorized Version. I will quote John 3:16 as it appears in the orignal KJV. "For God so loued y world, that he gaue his only begotten Sonne: that whosoeuer beleeueth in him, should not perish, but haue euerlasting life." The spelling is not standarized as we now have, and following the Roman Nunerals is slightly different as IV is IIII. There are other oddities, but one can, with some idea of how the passage reads today, can follow it. I believe if this were the only Bible I had could introduce someone to Christ, or preach a message from it. I am not a KJV fan, but I was raised on it and memorized from the KJV. I personally do not care too much for the NKJV either. I do read and enjoy the NASB Updated. I like how it reads and flows with my thought patterns. I find the NASB Updated has much clearer meaning than the NKJV or the NIV. I do use the NIV to gain a wider scope in todays terms, but not often is the NIV any clearer for me. But kalos, what good is any version, if people won't read the Bible. There are so many English Bible translations in print today, there just is no excuse for not reading the Bible on a systematic basis. What are your thoughts? Blessings. justme |

justme: Having read your posts from the beginning, I have no doubt that using the edition of the KJV to which you refer, you could preach a fine message. You hit the nail on the head when you say: there just is no excuse for not reading the Bible. I couldn't agree with you more. Dr. Wallace writes: 'In summary, I would suggest that each English-speaking Christian own at least a NASB or RSV and an NIV. As well, I think it would be helpful to possess a King James and even a New English Bible. And then, MAKE SURE THAT YOU READ THE BOOK!'
