That's quite a question you've got there. Not to say that we cannot find these prophecies or supprot them, but that Christ fufilled over 300 Bible prophecies when he became like one of us. The first place I would look would be Isaiah the "Messianic Prophet", or if you wanted to go deeper with this subject, I suggest you check the book; All the Messianic prophecies of the Bible, by Herbert Lockyer. Very hefty, but usefull. Here's some of the basic fulfillments: Place of birth - Micah 5:2- You Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from old, from ancient times. Fulfilled in Matthew 2:1- Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem. Heir to throne of David Isaiah 9:7- There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace, On the throne of David and over his kingdom, To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness From then on and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will accomplish this. Matthew 1:1- a record of the genealogy of Jesus Christ the son of Davis, the son of Abraham. Born of a virgin Isaiah 7:14- Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel. Fulfilled in Matthew 1:18- Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: when His mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child by the Holy Spirit. His rejection by Jews Isaiah 53:3- He was despised and forsaken of men, A man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; And like one from whom men hide their face He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. John 1:11- He came to His own, and those who were His own did not receive Him. His triumphial entry Zechariah 9:9- Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout in triumph, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; He is just and endowed with salvation, Humble, and mounted on a donkey, Even on a colt, the foal of a donkey. John 12:13-14- They took the branches of the palm trees and went out to meet Him, and began to shout, "Hosanna! BLESSED IS HE WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD, even the King of Israel." Jesus, finding a young donkey, sat on it; as it is written. Betrayed by a Friend Psalm 41:9- Even my close friend in whom I trusted, Who ate my bread, Has lifted up his heel against me. Mark 14:10- Then Judas Iscariot, one of the Twelve, went to the chief priests to betray Jesus to them. Crucified with sinners Isaiah 53:12- Therefore, I will allot Him a portion with the great, And He will divide the booty with the strong; Because He poured out Himself to death, And was numbered with the transgressors; Yet He Himself bore the sin of many, And interceded for the transgressors. Matthew 27:38- At that time two robbers *were crucified with Him, one on the right and one on the left. Hands and feet pierced Psalm 22:16- For dogs have surrounded me; A band of evildoers has encompassed me; They pierced my hands and my feet. John 20:27- Then He *said to Thomas, "Reach here with your finger, and see My hands; and reach here your hand and put it into My side; and do not be unbelieving, but believing." His side to be pierced Zechariah 12:10- "I will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and of supplication, so that they will look on Me whom they have pierced; and they will mourn for Him, as one mourns for an only son, and they will weep bitterly over Him like the bitter weeping over a firstborn. Not a bone to be broken Psalm 34:20- He protects all his bones not one of them will be broken. John 19:33- When they came to Jesus and found that he was already dead, they did not break his legs. His resurrection Psalm 16:10- You will not abandon me to the grave, nor will you let your Holy One see decay Matthew 28:9- Suddenly Jesus met them. "Greetings," he said. They came to him clasped his feet and worshiped him. His ascension Psalm 68:18- You have ascended on high, You have led captive Your captives; You have received gifts among men, Even among the rebellious also, that the LORD God may dwell there. Luke 24:50-51- And He led them out as far as Bethany, and He lifted up His hands and blessed them. While He was blessing them, He parted from them and was carried up into heaven. His second coming Acts 1:11- They also said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven." Hebrews 9:28- so Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin, to those who eagerly await Him. |
