Falling away, when you stop and think about it, can happen the very moment after one believes in Jesus. Falling away is the very instant that we commit our first sin after the point of salvation but that is not to say that God has forsaken us. Can we say that our sins are more refined then someone else’s therefore we haven’t fallen away, not hardly! Go has made some great promises to the believers in His Son. Hebrews 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. Some just take a lot longer to use I John then others, but that isn’t to say that they aren’t saved, but they are defiantly out of fellowship! 1 John 1:7-10 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 8If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. Now to the baptism issue; what really counts, as baptism goes isn’t even wet, as with water, it is dry and is accomplished for the believer in Jesus automatically at the very moment that they place their faith in Christ. 1 Cor. 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. The previous verse is the sequel to the following verse. Ephes. 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Assuming anything meritorious, that we might do, such as water baptism, is the antithesis to faith in Christ. The key to salvation is faith alone in Christ alone and anything we might do after that is MERELY RITUAL. We can’t improve one bit on the finish work of Christ by some puny thing that we attempt to do to help God with our salvation. It is a 100 percent done deal and Jesus gets all the credit. It isn’t 99 percent Jesus and 1 percent us with water baptism, It’s all Jesus or none at all; and those who assume differently are going to be in for a real shock some day, but if God doesn’t reveal this to them they aren’t in His family anyway so why bother trying to convince them, it can’t be done! Greetings, You must have my post confused with someone else’s post since my post was to believers regarding fellowship and baptism. Your reference answer was using Revelation 2:4,5 which is speaking to a general assembly of believers and the threat of removing their candle, which evidently happened, because we don’t get much light with regard to God’s Word out of Ephesus know days now do we. Have a nice day, CDBJ |
