Tim, One of my threads was pulled from the boards, although I'm not precisely certain which of the forum rules that I had violated. Only moderators possess that authority. - Blessings, Reighnskye |

"Pulled from the boards" Reighnskye: I'm not sure what you mean when you say that one of your threads was "pulled from the boards." Nothing is pulled from the boards; what happens is the thread no longer appears on the homepage. Sometimes it becomes necessary to restrict a thread. When this happens, the notice does not say the thread was "pulled from the boards." What it says is: "Note to viewers: This thread has been temporarily restricted from appearing on the homepage. If you submit a question, answer, or note to this thread, it will be processed and added to the thread, but will not appear on the homepage." A restricted thread is not a dead one. Replies to it are processed and added to the thread, which is still alive and active. The only thing that has changed is that replies to the thread will no longer appear on the homepage. Grace to you, Kalos |

Kalos, My original question was: "Are the interpretive applications of scripture, as presented by the moderators of the Study Bible Forum, representative of the views of the Lockman Foundation and the translators of the NASB?" In response, Tim wrote: "What moderators my friend? This is an unmoderated site!" By moderator, I mean any who have the authority to restrict a thread. And yes, it would be more proper for me to say that one of my previous threads had been restricted from appearing on the homepage. I had also placed what I thought was a valid follow-up in the question board, but it was stealthily removed within the space of an hour, before anyone could answer it. Thus it will effectively become dead. I'm just not precisely certain which of the four forum guidelines that I had violated, that my first thread would be restricted or the second question "removed", as the moderator had put it. I seem to be at a loss. - Blessings, Reighnskye |

Reighnskye - Threads typically contain posts by more than one user, so the restriction of a thread on which you've been active does not necessarily mean that you are the culprit. ...... I'll try to assuage your angst regarding the "interpretative applications of Scripture" and the Lockman Foundation. What you apparently are calling "interpretative applications" is more properly called Forum rules or Forum guidelines. These guidelines have evolved over the lifetime of this Forum and represent cooperative efforts and a consensus arrived at by the Lockman staff and several "pioneer" users of StudyBibleForum. The Forum is not moderated in the sense that you understand it, as Tim has pointed out. But this does not mean that it is unsupervised. Lockman has established an efficient means of monitoring whereby threads can be suppressed within seconds, and an especially offensive user can be warned or removed promptly, sometimes within minutes. You yourself as a user have the authority to report abuse on any user at any time if you believe that the user has crossed the line and violated the established guides for Forum use. Does this shed light on your concerns? ...... I'll close with this observation. I've been on the Forum since very near its beginning and know for certain that quite a few have been removed over the years because they refused to follow the guidelines. Others have themselves chosen to become inactive. But not one user who has followed the clear and simple guidelines has had his account revoked! If one is careful always to play the game by the rules, he need not be concerned. It is the people who ignore the rules who get into trouble, and very quickly. --Hank | ||||||
