Greetings Jo! Everyone can get lost with some of these big words! :-) Here is one web site that seemed fairly easy to understand: http://calvarychapel.com/redbarn/terms.htm Allow me to try and explain the two terms about which you inquired. Exegesis simply refers to interpretation that reads 'out' from the text. All of the facts and details come from the text itself. This is the best method. Conversely, there is another method - called 'eisegesis'. This method reads things 'into' the text that aren't there. This is a bad practice. Hemenutics is simply a big word for interpretation. It refers to any system of interpretation. I hope this helps! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

Thanks Tim! I think one problem with the thread I was reading, besides the long words, was misinterpretation. People are quick to take offense when they misunderstand something. Of course, that happens when all the communication is typed without body language to temper the words. So I pray that none of my questions or posts degenerate into massive nitpicking like I've seen a couple of so far. I'm open to correction at any point. I'm fallible, God is everything. Jo |

Greetings Jo! I've always heard it said that 'it takes two to fight'! :-) I try to just ignore 'tone' or even outright insults and simply focus on the issues. If we 'season' our responses with grace, there usually isn't a problem. :-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
