Why was David viewed as more a man of God than Saul?

Personally, I think it was because David's heart was more in tune with God's heart. Whereas Saul showed himself to be very shallow and not very committed. Probably his height and good looks got him what he wanted through his life, whereas David was humble, both in statue and with a "ruddy complexion." Whatever the reasons, we need to follow David's example and keep our heart and attitude humble and submissive to God.

Would an occasional scriptural reference be asking too much, especially by those of us who still have gaps to fill in our knowledge and command of the written word of God? Since this is a study Bible Forum, I suppose one would not think it altogether out of line to replace ever so often a "Personally, I think" with a "Thus says the Lord." It probably would be appreciated and, who knows, it might even start a trend. --Hank

Hank, I must admit you really do give a whole new depth to the expression "trying the patience of Job." I've issued some really fine challenges, well supported with scriptures and you ignore them. I've explained in great detail why I respond to these kind of questions asking "why" and yet you insist on scriptures when it should be obvious to any really serious Bible student there ISN'T any. So, once again I issue yet another challenge. The human side is peaking out in me but I must ask do you have the courage and love for people's souls to give up your pride? My challenge: 1) How about if you come up with specific scriptures in direct opposition with the points I've made on this thread? 2) How about if you come up with an opposing position showing "God's view of David vs. Saul" with scriptures to support your statement? Finally 3) Take another look at the previous challenges mentioned earlier, the ones I issued with supportive scriptures and respond with your opposing position(s) with scriptures to support them. I do want to try to do right by you and my fellow Forum members and issue these challenges in a spirit of love and devotion to God. And the best thing is that God gets the glory. So what do you say? Regardless of you response, I still pray for God to bless you. |
