First of all lets get one thing clear, it doesn’t matter what I say or think it’s what the Lord says that counts, what does the Bible say? The Bible says, Acts 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. Jesus died for the sins of the whole world. 1 John 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. If Jesus died for the sins of the whole world then what could possibly condemn a person? The only sin that Jesus didn’t die for was the sin of rejecting Him; as a result the sin of rejection, or none belief, is the only sin that the Holy Spirit is going to convict people of because it is the ONLY sin that can condemn them. John 16:8 (A) NIV When he comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin John 16:9 NIV in regard to sin, because men do not believe in me; Do you suppose that telling a little white lie just before you die could get a believer condemned: It is a sin though, is it not? Just because someone’s sins are not as refined in your eyes as others doesn’t mean it isn’t as bad in God’s eyes; it is still a sin that Jesus died for. To dismay and shock of most the worst sin in the world isn’t murder or fornication or one of many overt acts that people class as big; the worst sin in the world is the mental attitude sin of rejecting Jesus Christ as ones savior. Just because some sins are on your list as being the most shocking doesn’t mean that it is any more shocking to God then the ones you think are little ones! God is HOLY, HOLY, HOLY. The question that started off this discussion was, can a believer commit suicide and still be save. My answer was then, and still is, a person is saved by believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, they have had a change of mind about the person and work of Christ and as a result God has saved them. There is no sin that a person can do after salvation that can negate the finished work of God, for me to say other wise would be the epitome of arrogance and a contradiction of what God has promised. Now there will be some who will say that this way of thinking is just giving a license to sin. I would say to them that they, being a believer, better stop and remember who their Father is and keep shot accounts with the use of 1 John 1:9 because they won’t enjoy the woodshed of discipline. Those that question this should consider the scope of the following. How long is ETERNAL life, until I commit my next sin, big or small? This is not a post to argue something you might not have, but I know what the Lord has revealed to me. Matthew 16:17 Jesus replied, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven. Have a nice day, CDBJ |

Hi, CDBJ! So what you are saying is that negating God and purposefully sinning is ok, as long as we say that we are "born again" or "saved?" Did you no hear Jesus warn us that not all who say "Lord, Lord... but THOSE WHO DO THE WILL OF MY FATHER shall live" (paraphrased). Please do not get defensive, research the question, research the answer, then com'on back, you hea'! God Bless! Angel |

While I believe that sinning is wrong, and I do not negate that committing suicide is murdering yourself and going against what God says, I have to wonder if you are looking at the whole picture. I don't think we should judge those who do. If someone commits suicide, we can't assume that they're going to hell. What if you were to sin just before you died and didn't ask forgiveness in that split second before death? Would you go to heaven or hell? What if someone has serious depression? Should we judge them? This is not the issue. We are to get out there and love people. Who cares if committing suicide will get you to heaven or hell? I do know if it would or not, but we need to stand up for those who are in need. We need to be a light for those in the darkness. This is a grey issue. Let's be united and forget about issues and learn to love. God Bless! Love 'n' Prayers, Sonflowr |

"but we need to stand up for those who are in need. We need to be a light for those in the darkness." Hi, Sonflowr! This is precisely my point! How can we provide a light to those in darkness if we simply say: "hey do what you will God will understand, after all, He died for your sins so you are safe, no matter what! If we were to adopt such views, could you envision extremely long lines of people trying to get into Church? Would it not more likely be that they would take a sabbatical and say: "Jesus, I'll meet up with you later... much later!" The truth is Christ did not say turn the light on when people are ready to let it shine. True, He was loving and forgiving, but He was also stern and uncompromising: 'It is not anyone who says to me, "Lord, Lord," who will enter the kingdom of Heaven, but the person who does the will of my Father in heaven. (Matthew 7:12) Yet, that same Jesus, teaches that we are to knock insistently, that we are to ask insistently in order to find mercy and aide. Is He a walking contradiction? No! He is saying: "be doers of the Word not just listener," believe, obey, and pray constantly. To offer Christ's Light to the world does not mean adapting the Word to the world; it means trading in the "old man" for the "new man." Yes, by al means, bring those in darkness to the Light--but be careful not to suggest to them that they can come as they please! (Parable of the wedding feast--remember that guy that refused to dress for it? God Bless! Angel |
