What do you do when a church lets you down so badly and the elders have hurt you. Our church doesn't have a pastor and has no intention of getting one....do I stay or do I go. I have been there all my Christian life.

Thanks for answering so quickly. I have been attending this church for over 14 years and feel that the people are like family too me. I have grown closer to God through these many years, my husband came to Christ through this church, though he does not regularly attend anymore. Our problems stem from certain members of leadership and it is hard to explain...but I think God might be telling us to move on but sometimes I am just not sure what to do. I was the secretary to this church for over 5 years (3 of those years without a pastor) and I have recently quit...I was hoping this will help make our decision easier but I am still struggling. Any advise or scripture you could give, would help in making this decision and would be very much appreciated .

Greetings, I would tell you to obey the voice of the Holy Spirit above all. Many times we become so comfortable in a place that we do not grow anymore. The Holy Spirit has a way of moving us to take us out of our comfort zone and put us in a position where we can be challenged and be able to once again grow. I am not telling you this is what you should do - that is up to the Holy Spirit to tell you what to do. If you believe that God has told you to move on then by all means do it. If you are not sure ask God to give you confirmation and He will; but be sure to not reject that comfirmation of whichever way it leads you. It is possible to do just that because of the history you have with the church that you mentioned above. It is very hard for some people to leave behind what they know and are comfortable with and step out in faith but we have to do just that. We have to learn to place our lives in His hands and step out whether we understand it or not. A few years ago I was told by the Holy Spirit to get ready I would be leaving. My reaction to Him "you must be joking God I am trying to buy a house". Well He wasn't joking. After more comfirmations than I should of needed I packed myself and my children up and came to a place where I knew no one, I had no job, no place to live, and did not have the least idea of why I was here. But God moved on my behalf in ways that were amazing. Trust in Him and lean not to thine own understanding.... On the other hand if He tells you not to leave then stay where you are and pray for the leadership. Submit to the authority that God has placed over you unless there is a clear and direct violation of scripture. In the future God will reward you for your obedience and will full the law of seedtime and harvest (you reap what you sow) in their lives. I hope I have helped. Let me know what happens I will be very interested. prayon |
