1 | Noah Being Divinely Warned | Bible general Archive 2 | BradK | 109449 | ||
This question came up in our study last night. In Genesis 6:3 We have the Lord speaking: "Then the Lord said, “My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, because he also is flesh; nevertheless his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.”" We know from Heb. 11:7 that Noah was "divinely warned". My question is this: Did Noah know from the Lord speaking in Gen. 6:3 that his time frame to complete the ark before God's judgement was 120 years? In other words, do we that the Lord was speaking those words directly to Noah or were they more a general statement? Speaking The Truth In Love, BradK |

Hi Bradk, My opinion is that it was a general statement that was directed to Noah but the fact that it said man makes it all-inclusive. We are finding the same thing happening today. The SAME DAY that Noah and his family entered that ark of safety God clobbered those that were left behind! Genesis 7:11 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the SAME DAY were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. I am sure that the Lord gave all of them ample warning just as he dose today about the impending wrath that is to come but they, the arrogant, didn’t give heed then just as they don’t today. 2 Peter 3:3-6 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, 4And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. 5For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: 6Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: Notice, THEY and THEM, with reference to the unbelievers as pointed out in I Thess. 1 Thes. 5:1-4 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. 2For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. 3For when THEY shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon THEM, as travail upon a woman with child; and THEY shall not escape. 4But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. In conclusion I don’t believe that they heeded the message then anymore then THEY, unbelievers, do today. Noah wasn’t in darkness then any more then believers are in darkness now. Luke 17:26-29 And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. 27THEY did eat, they drank, they married wives, THEY were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed THEM all. 28Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; THEY did eat, THEY drank, THEY bought, THEY sold, THEY planted, THEY builded; 29But the SAME DAY that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed THEM all. I wonder what happened to those that were LEFT BEHIND? No second chance mentioned; if people put off trusting in Christ too long, some day, it will be too late! Ephes. 5:6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. There are a lot of people being deceived into thinking that if they are left behind that THEY will get another chance to be saved. Have a great day, CDBJ |
