To the people of Israel only Jesus said "I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of Israel" Matt 15:24. This text shows that he is a messenger sent by God to the people of Israel only. How can he be God and be sent by God at the same time?! How can he be God and be sent to the house of Israel only?! is God only to certain people only?! A national God?! |

Hello Isaac Jesus You have basically asked two questions: 1. How can he be God and be sent by God at the same time? Answer: In the Godhead there are three co-equal and eternal persons--Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Father sent the Son into the world. 2. How can he be God and be sent to the house of Israel only? Answer: As God's covenant people, Israel had first right to the promised kingdom of God. Jesus offered that kingdom to Israel. When He was rejected, the offer went to the Gentiles. Read Romans 11 on this. So when the Syro-Phoenecian woman (a Gentile) came to the Lord for help, He was telling her His mission. This conversation, though, brought out her faith which the Lord honored. Steve |

Steve: You wrote: "Answer: As God's covenant people, Israel had first right to the promised kingdom of God. Jesus offered that kingdom to Israel. When He was rejected, the offer went to the Gentiles. Read Romans 11 on this." A couple of things to be careful about, as I am sure you are aware: 1. Saving Gentiles was not "plan B." 2. Not all Israel has rejected their Messiah. --Joe! |

Hello Joe True, it really wasn't plan B. And I was speaking of Israel in a national sense, not individually. Steve |
