Greetings eej, The Bible says that we are saved by grace through faith, and not because of works (Ephesians 2:8,9; Romans 3:28). However, the idea is that if we have genuine saving faith, then we will also do good works (which is evidence of that faith - James 2:17), even though our works (no matter how grandiose) are not enough to save our souls.
