Several points to consider -the magi weren't under Roman rule -they may of learned about prophecy handed down by Daniel (as Tim said) -the magi probably rode Persian steeds and had troop support -Herod's army may been out of town -they may of wanted to put another thorn in the Herod's side by declaring Him "King of the Jews" -Herod was crazy, so killing children less than two may of been overkill Therefore I don't think there was a delay of leaving or the trip. I also think they knew exactly when He would of been born. They got there soon after the purification on day 40. Searcher |
