They rode on Persian steeds!? All the manger scenes I've ever seen have camels in them! I've been deceived all this time :o) (Of course they shouldn't even be in the manger scene but I won't open that can of worms.) What do you mean by Purification on day 40? (I must confess, I am not a theologian and have very little background in that aspect of my bible knowledge.) |

Scripture ... Matt 2:3; Luke 2:22 - Lev 12:1-4 ... ashestobeauty, They went back to the Temple on day 40 (Luke 2:22) based on the Law (Lev 12:1-4), which also included the circumsion. There are many things we believe is true, because of the pictures we have seen or heard. I do not know they came on Persian steeds, camels or even walked. But, just having three people arriving would not cause the distrubance they did (Matt 2:3). S |

The last option is even more likely; one of the tidbits that helps one to understand the story of the Good Samartian is that he put the wounded Jew on his donkey. This means that either the Good Samaritan was riding it (a fact that would then mean he was relatively well off). Or, if he was a merchant he had to take his cargo of goods off the donkey to put the Jew on it. |
