Christians generally believe that in the end days the anticrist will come to power out of the european union and rule the earth, so mankind is expecting the end to come in a certain sequence of events, their only looking to thoso specific events to occur, but in the bible God says satan will decieve the whole world shouldn't man be looking for other other things then those specific events. | ||||||

Greetings Brianna! The Lord has given us specific events and things to look forward to that would "signal" the nearness of the end-times (Matthew 24,25). If we know this 'nearness', then we can be better prepared to be 'watchmen' for all people (Ezekiel 33) so that we can warn the unsaved that the end is near. Yes, Satan will try to deceive the whole world, but we must test everything against Scripture and to follow the Lord our God will all of our hearts, with all our souls and with all of our minds. Blessings to you, Nolan |

Nolan: I agree with you about being better prepared to be watchmen. I disagree with the idea of certain others that "'que sera sera.' Let's not worry about what will happen or in what sequence it will happen." Surely Jesus had a purpose when, in Matt 24, he answers the disciples' questions, "Tell us, when shall these things be? and what [shall be] the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?" (ASV). Jesus went on to tell them WHEN these things shall be, what shall be the SIGN of his coming, and what shall be the SIGN of the end of the world. This chapter was not put in the Bible to fill up space. What was Jesus' purpose in giving the Olivet Discourse in Matthew 24? It was to warn us to be ready: 1) "Take heed that no man lead you astray." 2) "See that ye be not troubled." 3) "Behold, I have told you beforehand" to warn believers not to be led astray by false prophets and false christs. 4) "Watch therefore." The main reason for these prophecies is to warn us, "Be ye also ready" Matthew 24:44 (ASV). BE READY! BE READY! How then can anyone say we need not try to understand what events will take place or in what sequence? We have every reason to be concerned about what Jesus means in Matthew 24 and the meaning of 1 Thess., 2 Thess., Revelation, etc. The reason is so we can BE READY. (FYI: Here I have quoted no man's book, article or commentary. I'm getting this straight from the text of the Bible itself.) Grace to you, kalos |

Greetings Kalos! When you speak of Matthew 24 and the purpose and signs explained in that chapter, I would agree, my friend! Every verse of the Bible was put there for a specific purpose! And we must continue to strive to interpret the Bible for all that we are worth.. Therefore, we must try to understand the sequence of events that have been placed there before us in Scripture. In this way, we can see just who is *making a living* out of promoting their own interpretation of endtime prophecy and just who is telling the truth! Once we compare the events that are mentioned in some verses to the events in others, then we can begin to see where, if taken at face value, the Bible will speak for itself. :-) Grace to you, Nolan |
