I am not saying that God is powerful enough to save us, but in the keeping part, he needs help. What I am saying is because of Gods love he has given us the same choice Adam had, to choose between good and evil. We should not be decieved as Adam was but live a life in obedience to God as a living sacrifice.

Hello, John D. - You confuse me, John, when you say, "I am not saying that God is powerful enough to save us..." Then, sir, what are you saying, please? If you are NOT saying that God is powerful enough to save us, then pray tell me who is? Surely your words don't say what you meant for them to say! ..... Then further you say, "but in the keeping part, he (meaning God, from the sense of the context) needs help." Will you be kind enough to cite from the Scriptures a passage or two which teaches that God needs help with salvation, or, for that matter, with anything else? ....... Finally, in reference to the final point of your post, does Scripture in fact teach that the nature of man after the Fall is exactly the same as Adam's before the Fall? Thanks for your consideration of these questions and a belated welcome to SBF. --Hank

My grammar can be confussing, What I am saying is that God has the power to save us and that we don't then earn our salvation we work with God in our salvation. John 15v1-17 jesus plainly tells us that it is about remaining in the vine and the purpose of that is to bear fruit. If we don't remain in the vine we will not beear fruit and we will wither and die.

Hello JohnD- I believe what is taught here is much different than many might understand it. I believe that some often interpret this to mean that God saves us and then we have the responsibility of remaining saved and that we do that by "bearing fruit". Is this what you are believing? Jeff |

Jeff, I believe that When Jesus says "that we should remain in him" That it is a call to be faithful and if you are faithful you will bear fruit. It is not our responsibilty to bear fruit, it is a natural result of being faithful.
