Hi LC133 The word saved as found in Romans 10:9,13, along with other passages, is translated from the Koine Greek word, SOZO, and is pronounced “sode-zo”; It carries the connotation of safety or delivered to a place of protection. As a verb in the Greek it is in the indicative mood, which is the mood of reality, future tense, and the passive voice, which means you receive the action of the verb. i.e. you are under the protection and security of God Himself and He has promised it! In other words the one who was to judge you, God, will declared you safe and secure, if you will put all of your hope of eternal life in what God has already done for you in the person of God’s Son, Jesus. Ephes. 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: [9] Not of works, lest any man should boast. God imputed all of your sin to Jesus and he paid the awesome price that God demanded of sin. When we completely believe or have faith in Jesus, God says that he will impute the perfection or righteousness of Christ to us. 2 Cor. 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. God, by his Spirit, reveals to the one trusting in Jesus that he has eternal life and as a result he is saved. 1 John 5:10-13 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. [11] And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. [12] He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. [13] These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. Thus we have the Gospel or good news and Jesus gets all the credit!! Have a great day, CDBJ |
