I have been conducting an ongoing survey of willing participants in this forum. I would like to be able to wrap up my survey, but would appreciate your help. It would be helpful for me, if I could get as many responses as possible to the following question: In the event we Chrsitian's call "born again" which also has been called the new birth or regeneration, do you personally believe we are personally active or passive in bringing about our "new Birth?" All you have to do is answer; active or passive I do not desire to disagree with anyone, or argue about this with them. I just want to finish this survey and give you my findings. God Bless you all New Creature |

New Creature, following this thread with interest, I see the word "repent" has been used, along with some talk about whether it's active or passive. On other threads the word "repent" often appears also and by the way some Forumites have used it, it occurs to me that a mini remedial course on what Scripture means when it uses the word "repent" might not be out of place. Accordingly, I'm herewith submitting a few verses that may be of some value for those who would like to refresh themselves on what God means when He uses the words "repent" and "repentance." Here is a short sampling: Isaiah 45:22; Matthew 6:19-21; Acts 14:15; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Colossians 3:2; 1 Thessalonians 1:9; Hebrews 9:12-14. ...... Biblical repentance is not what some Christians think it is or what some dictionaries define it as! ...... P.S. Many secular dictionaries are wrong in their definition of onanism too :-) Compare the popular dictionary definition of onanism with Genesis 38:9! --Hank | ||||||

Hank Thanks for the reply Yes it would certainly benefit each of us to not only become acquainted with the correct definition of repentance, but other words often associated with salvation. For instance; under the umbrella we call salvation are terms like, justification, sanctification, and glorification etc. I believe it should be our desire to gain a correct understanding of such Biblical terms and how they relate to a more complete picture of what salvation entails. Thanks again Hank God Bless New Creature |
