Dear RC In defence of Jim D., his salvation need not be questioned just because all his theologiclal ducks are not in a row. Biblical inerrancy is consistant with Biblical inspiration, but we are saved by God's grace through faith in HIs Son. God does not save us because our faith in His Word is perfect in every way. .............. So here in the StudyBible Forum let's deal with the issues and questions raised concerning God's word. Let's deal with the issues, not the person. This is what the Forum is for. Let God deal with our final destination. |

Thank you very much, LionStrong. I am quite certain of my salvation, literally, truthfully, and factually! Fortunately for all of us, it seems, perfection in theological matters is not a requirement for entrance to Heaven. Yours in Christ, Jim Dunne |

You're welcome, Jim D, ................ But I'm still looking for an answer to my question in "Don't sweat the small stuff?" Now I have expanded on that question: ........... First, is my restating of your position ok? Second, if the restatement is satisfactory, how do you determine what historical details are important, and how do you know the important historical events are true? |

Hi Lionstrong! I'm getting a little cross-eyed trying to read the replies to replies to replies (g), but I think you're referring to a message you posted before where you said "Some unimportant historical details in the Bible are false, but the important stuff is true. The false stuff is unimportant, so don't sweat it." That's not really what I was trying to say, although I can see now why you might have inadvertently drawn that conclusion. Rather than restate what I've posted before, can I suggest that you read the responses I posed to Morant61's questions? I think you'll find my answer in there. If you have any questions, please feel free to let me know. Yours in Christ, Jim D. |
