Greetings George, This topic has been much discussed on many occasions throughout this Forum's two and a half year history.. In the Old Testament, women took part in ancient worship (Exodus 15:20-21; 38:8; 1 Sam. 2:22), were involved in the choir (1 Chr. 25:5-6; Ezra 2:65; Neh. 7:67), worshipped separately (Ex. 38:8), and were required to attend the reading of the law (Deut. 31:12; Josh. 8:35). In the New Testament also, women had many worshipping privileges (Acts 1:14; 12:12-13; 1 Cor. 11:5; 14:34; 1 Tim. 2:11), and dressed modestly (1 Tim. 2:9-10; 1 Peter 3:3-4). Women were rulers, poets, held various occupations, had social status, were involved in business affairs, and served as prophets throughout the Bible. Women were converted by the preached of Paul (Acts 16:14-15; 17:4,12,34). But in regards to their boundaries/parameters/definitions of their roles in the NT church, we find: 1 Cor. 11:3-15; 1 Cor. 14:34-35; 1 Tim. 2:9-15; 3:11; 5:1-16; Titus 2:3-5. And I will let the Scriptures above speak for themselves. For alternate answers to this question, please search the Archives by use of the "Quick Search" function at the right. Blessings to you, Makarios |
