Chislev (Assyro-Babylonian, Kislimu) (30 Days, sometimes 29) November/December (Plowing and sowing). Neh 1:1; Zech 7:1; 1 Macc 1:54 9th month of the religious calendar. 3rd month of the civil calendar. Chislev 1 – New Moon Chislev 25 – Feast of Lights, Hanukkah (1 Macc 4:52 ff) 8 days During this month there would be much plowing and sowing of wheat and barley. Note: According to II Maccabees the festival of Hanukkah was celebrated in the same manner as the Feast of Tabernacles, by carrying palm branches and singing songs of praise. http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/03166a.htm http://www.bible-history.com/jewishyear/jewishyear_chislev.html |

Thanks Emmaus, I was trying to figure out approximately the time of year using the type and antitype theory and the date that Antiochus desecrated the temple in Jerusalem, 1st Macc. 1:57. It’s interesting that Daniel prophesied the exact same event, yet Antiochus didn’t fulfill it because Jesus said that it was yet in the future, therefore Antiochus could have been portraying a type of the Antichrist. Matthew 24:15-24 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) 16Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: 17Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house: 18Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes. 19And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! 20But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day: 21For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened. 23Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. 24For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. If one were to subtract 42 months from the 15th of Casleu it “might” give the approximate time of year that the Antichrist will make a covenant with the Jews, (A covenant with death), that he will break. Isaiah 28:18 And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it. I think we can always see where we are on God’s prophetic clock by watching Israel! Thanks again, CDBJ |

CDBJ, I can't say this area is my forte, but as I recall the day that Ttius and the Roman legions destroyed the Temple or took Jerusalem in 70 AD was the exact same calendar day as the babyloniand sacked the first Temple. You may already be aware of that and how it may or may not fit into your studies on the matter. Emmaus |

Hi Emmaus, You are right, but the one main missing ingredient, when the legions of Titus besieged Jerusalem, in AD 70, was the fact that the Romans didn’t desecrate the temple. Titus destroyed the temple but veneration by the conquerors wasn’t an issue as it will be with the antichrist. The desecration of the temple and the demanded worship of the Jew will be the key issue as expounded on further by Paul. 2 Thes. 2:3-4 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. I calculate from what the antitype has shown, should it apply, that the little horn will make a pact of safety with the Jews likely sometime in the springtime in what ever year it happens, in May or June. Daniel 7:8 I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things. Rev. 13:1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. I equate these ten horns with the ten toes of the image in Daniel. Daniel 2:41-45 And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters' clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay. 42And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken. 43And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay. 44And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever. 45Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure. The last world ruler, which is the final destroyer of the Jews and God’s chosen, will be crushed by Jesus just before he sets up his final kingdom. I really enjoy eschatology and try to fit Scripture with Scripture, CDBJ |
