Scripture ... Acts 2:41; 2:27; 4:4; 8:14-17; 8:34-39; 9:5-19; 10:44-48;16:14-15;16:31-34;19:5-7 ... Your opinion contradicts the Bible and the conversion experiences ... let us look in Acts: -2:41 ... 3,000 saved. The 120 spoke in known languages (2:6 ff) -2:27 ... many daily -4:4 ... 5,000 saved -8:14-17 ... Samaritans -8:34-39 ... Ethopian -9:5-19 ... Paul (tho he spoke in tongues later (1 Cor 13:1)) *10:44-48 Cornelius and his house ... they did speak in tongues -16:14-15 ... Lydia -16:31-34 ... jailer and his house *19:5-7 ... about 12 disciples of John ... they did speak in tongues. There are more accounts during Paul's trips. Only once does it record that tongues was evidenced. I see only other place is Cornelius and his house speaking in tongues. So how can you can many? If God gave me the gift of tongues, I would not resist it S |

Dear Searcher, I don't understand why you say that I am contradicting Scripture. You may note many circumstances but you forget 1 Corinthians 14, for example :From this and from what I see today, tongues is usually not known to those speaking [unless interpretation is given] or to those within the hearing of them in the church setting...though it can be in a known tongue. You are entitled to your opinion and I just happen to disagree with you and I do not believe I am contradicting the Scripture. |

Read Acts again ... very few spoke in tongues. If a church violates 1 Cor 14:27-28, by having many speak at once or skipping the interpetation, they are violating the Word of God. In 14:5, what would Paul rather have them do? S |
