Actually there can be medical reasons for circumcision if you want to acknowledge them. the procedure is said by some to promote better hygiene and prevent inflammation. Also circumcision has proven to reduce the risk of penile cancer. The uncircumsized male runs a much higher risk of this rare form of cancer than does the circumsised man. It is also done to preserve a man's body image that is consistant with his peers since circumcision is such a common practice in the United States. On the other hand there are surgical risks in the circumcision as with any other surgery. For some reason this is a very sensative issue with alot of people. I just want to say my son has never had any problems with hygeine or infection. As for the higher risk of penile cancer. I'm sure he will take that into account when he makes the decision to be circumcised. Also, the trend is moving away from all males being circumcised. Everything I've read states Dr.'s aren't doing it unless the parent specifically asks that it be done. Most males in the "Y" generation are not circumcised. |
