I know God watches over us but why does He allow pedohpiles to molest children? This not only is the most vilest acts and it ruins the children they molest. Thanks.Shadow |

Dear Shadow, I read this excerpt from the Editorial section of a local newspaper called "The Elkhart Truth".. "Troubled by father's statement Like so many others, my prayers go out to the Yates family in Houston. Words are inadequate to describe the horror of Andrea Yates' decision to take the lives of her children. There is nothing anyone can say that will reduce the grief of Rusty Yates, the father. At the funeral service for his five children, Rusty Yates is reported to have said that God gives and God takes away. God had acted, he said, according to news reports, to take these five children home. We all do our best to make sense when things seem to make no sense, but as a Christian I am troubled when we lay responsibility for a terrible act directly at the feet of God as if it were God's doing. As we pray together for the children, the mother and the father in the Yates family, I want non-Christians to know that many believers recoil at Rusty Yates' statement that this murder was an act of God. Few of us have easy answers about why terrible things happen in this world. God can be trusted, even in the middle of this terrible loss. Rev. Mark Fenstermacher, Trinity United Methodist Church, Elkhart Indiana" --Nolan |

Dear Shadow, I know it is very troubling to most people...however we do have a free will. However, vengeance is the Lord's [Romans 12:19, "Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord." and He is not happy about those who would prey on innocent children any more than you or I. In Matthew 18: 5-6, Jesus says: "And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name, receiveth me. But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea." From the tone of this statement, it seems God is just as angry as we may be. Hope this is of some help to you. Itiswritten |

Regarding child sexual abuse and other crimes, while it is true that "vengeance is the Lord's", it is also true that justice (the administration of law) is the responsibility of the legal system. NASB Romans 13:3-4 For rulers are not a cause of fear for good behavior, but for evil. Do you want to have no fear of authority? Do what is good and you will have praise from the same; for it is a minister of God to you for good. But if you do what is evil, be afraid; for it does not bear the sword for nothing; for it is a minister of God, an avenger who brings wrath on the one who practices evil. GOD'S WORD Translation Romans 13:4 The government is God's servant working for your good. But if you do what is wrong, you should be afraid. The government has the right to carry out the death sentence. It is God's servant, an avenger to execute God's anger on anyone who does what is wrong. |

Dear Kalos, I heartily agree with you. As a person who loves children and a mother of five grown children,in answering Shadow, well, the subject makes me so angry, I was comforting him the way I feel comforted in such situations...I think good government should lock such a one up, if they ever find him/her, I think justice should prevail, but it doesn't always. But I KNOW GOD WILL DEAL WITH THAT ONE, and quite frankly, I'd rather God do it [though I certainly would like such a one caught and taken from society so as not to be able to continue. I also feel, these days and with THIS crime, I don't know if death is enough...but God will take care of the rest, if that one does not come to repentance first. |
