Greetings Elijah! I checked out the link you provided. However, I wanted to correct a misstatment in your post. John Nelson Darby did not originate the doctrine of the Rapture. He orginated the current dispensational view of the rapture. The doctrine of the Rapture has a long history. First of all, it is found in the Bible, even though the term 'rapture' is not used. Secondly, writers from the 1st and 2nd centuries discuss the doctrine of the Rapture in their writings. The only thing that has changed over the years is how the Rapture was understood or explained, the doctrine itself has been around since the early church. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

Hello Tim What your saying is very true, the rapture doctrine has been around since the early church, but its also as you said, He originated the current dispensational view of the rapture, with makes his version a new doctrine that wasn’t there before and has actually caused people to be unprepared for the things that are coming, because of his doctrine people are so sure that there going to be raptured or taken out of here before all the bad things happen, (the tribulation) that very few of them even take in to consideration the times were living in, because they don’t think there going to be here and yet the Bible clearly shows when the rapture or gathering together with the Lord Jesus actually is. 2 Thessalonians 2 II Th 2:1-3 1 Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, This first verse is the rapture and now in verse 2, he is actually telling them not to listen to anyone else, just as in verse 3, Let no one deceive you, than he go’s on to tell exactly what has to happen before the gathering together with the Lord Jesus, For that Day Will Not Come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, Who Is the son of perdition? He’s the Antichrist and he doesn’t come until well in to the tribulation! 2 not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come. 3 Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, (NKJ) God Bless |

6 | Rapture and Day of the Lord the Same? | Bible general Archive 1 | Morant61 | 9389
Greetings Elijah! Thanks for the clarification! I consider myself a pre-wrath rapture person. So, I have no particular attachment to a pre-tribulation rapture. However, there is enough uncertainty that I am willing to allow lots of wiggle room. For instance, in your exegesis of 2 Thes. 2:1-3, it could be that the "Day of the Lord" is different from the events described in verse one. It seems that the Thessalonians were being exposed to some false teaching that basically said (v. 2) that the "Day of the Lord" had already come. This caused concern among the new Christians because if the "Day of the Lord" had already come then that would mean that they had missed the rapture (v.1). Therefore, Paul argues in verses 2 and 3 that the "Day of the Lord" cannot come until certain things happen, as you pointed out it your post. The problem though is does "Day of the Lord" refer to the rapture or does it refer to the Day of Judgement which takes place after the tribulation and the millenium? I will try to do a word study on that phrase a little later! The best advice I have ever heard concerning the rapture is: Pray for Pre, but be prepared for Post! The important thing is that we live for Him everyday and in everyway, until He comes. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

7 | Rapture and Day of the Lord the Same? | Bible general Archive 1 | doug619 | 9397
Is rapture and Day of the Lord the same? The answer is no. The Day of the Lord is described in Joel 2......... Joel 2:1-2 1 Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand; 2 A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations. (KJV) We, as Gentiles, forget that the Jews are still God's chosen people. Jesus himself said ....... Matt 15:24 24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. (KJV) John 4:22 22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. (KJV) It is because of their unbelief that we have been grafted in....... Rom 11:11-12 11 I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy. 12 Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness? (KJV) The Jews look to the Day of the Lord as a time of rejoicing. Joel says it will be a time of trouble.Daniel says it will be a time of trouble (Dan. 12:1). The seven year period we call the Tribulation is known to the Jews as the Day of the Lord. It is the final week of the seventy week prophecy of Daniel (Dan. 9:24-27). The Rapture takes place first (Luke 21:24,Rms. 11:25-32,1 Thess. 1:10, 1 Thess. 4:13-18,1 Thess. 5:9-11,2 Thess. 2:6,7, Rev. 4:1) and then the the Day of the Lord begins in which "all Israel shall be saved (Rms. 11:26)"............... |

Greetings Doug619! Thanks for the additional Scriptures! I said that I would do a word study on the phrase "Day of the Lord," so here goes. The phrase occurs 24 times in 22 verses in the NIV. a) It will be a day of judgment and wrath on sinners - Is. 13:6-13. b) It will be a time of doom for the nations - Ez. 30:3, Ob. 15, Zeph. 1:7, Zech. 14:1-7. c) It will be a day of destruction - Joel 1:15, Zeph. 1:14, Amos. 5:18-20. d) The army of the Lord will sweep across the nations - Joel 2:1-11. e) It will be a time of salvation for His people - Joel 2:18-32, 3:14-16. f) Elijah will precede the Day of the Lord - Mal. 4:5. g) The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon blood - Acts. 2:20. h) Souls will be saved on the Day of the Lord - 1 Cor. 5:5. i) Paul will boast of the fruits of his labor on the Day of the Lord - 2 Cor. 1:14. j) It will come like a thief in the night - 1 Thess. 5:2, 2 Pet. 3:10. k) Some had claimed that the Day of the Lord had already come - 2 Thess. 2:2. l) The heavens and the earth will be destroyed on the Day of the Lord - 2 Pet. 3:10 I think I have listed all of the references! Based upon the above, it would appear that the Day of the Lord would have to refer to the Day of Judgment at the end of time. It will be on that day that "every knee shall bow" (Phil. 2:10) and that sinners will be judged. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
