1 | Attitudes or Beattitudes?? | Bible general Archive 1 | TheCurtMan | 87095 | ||
I have a question regarding the difference of opinion on certain issues. What's up with the attitudes?? We're suppose to share the Word with Love and Humility. We're not going to always agree with our brothers or sisters. For some of us, our Spiritual Education is on a lower level than others, and some of the replies I've read are nothing short than anti-biblical. But is that reason enough to become upset with one another?? Whatever happen to Blessed are the Peace Makers?? I'm under the impression that scripture says that if we have fault with our brethern, then reconciliation should be made quickly before the problem escalates. I personally believe that within that commandment, reconciliation should be made rather we are at fault or not. Keeping the peace is more important than Pride. I've been reading alot of the notes being passed between what are suppose to be mature christians, and I sense hostility, with very little apology. Jesus didn't give up on the lady at the well because she just didn't get it at first, neither did He give up on Nicodems, and I don't know if he ever understood at all, but in neither case did Jesus turn around and refuse to stop trying, or blow them outta the water because they just didn't get what He was saying. And before anyone wants to go and get all technical on these examples, their just that, examples. The point being, lets choose our words a little more carefully; keep our tempers in check, and if necessary pray before we give our responces. Remember: 1. The truth is suppose to be shared in Love and with Humility. 2. Anything that is not done in love is done in vain. And 3. There are a number of mature christians on this site, lets act like it. I'm crucified daily off this site by the world, I do not need to be, nor witness crucifixion on this site by my brothers and sisters oover something like a differenc of opinion. The CurtMan |

What's up with the attitudes?? Dear Curt, I think your expectations are a bit unrealistic. Strongly held beliefs elicit strong emotions which at times lead to intemporate reactions. This is indeed regretable but not surprising. We are imperfect people. I do not offer this in an attempt to justify mean-spirited remarks that meant to beat back an attack on one's theolology. But rather to remind us to pause and consider our speech before we punch the send button. Rom 7:15 For what I am doing, I do not understand; for I am not practicing what I would like to do, but I am doing the very thing I hate. Thank you for your post, I'm sure that you sent it out as an admonition to all of us and in the hope that our discourse with one another will be such that it will glorify our Saviour. May God grant each one the grace to consider others as better than ourselves. 1 Cor 9:27 but I discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified. Dear John, Thanks for your reply, I can't help but to feel that emotions are to be ruled, not the ruler. In other words we are suppose to rule our emotions, and not let our emotions rule us. When our Heavenly Father spoke on Humility, I personally got the feeling that He ment for us to be Humble and Loving towards one another INSPITE of our emotions. How many times have your emotions led you down the wrong road?? My wife and I are walking down the street arguing like cats and dogs. Some creep jumps outta the ally and beats her till she's black and blue. I do nothing. Finally the Lord calls me home. I have to answer for my actions while here on earth. He ask me why didn't I keep my marriage vow to protect my wife the day she was hospitalized. What am I going to say to Him John, that I was mad with her?? It's suppose to be about OBEDIENCE John. Obedience inspite of our emotions to the Father. So do you think that I'm wrong on this one or what?? |

Dear Curt, My post was not intended to dispute what you said regarding the absense of christian charity in too many of our posts. I agree with you! In fact I have been guilty of self-righteous and intemporate rhetoric myself. The point I am trying to make is... the fact that this occurs amongst us should serve as a reminder of our own weakness, and how dependent we are on our Lord for the grace we need to obey His commands. 1 Cor 10:12 Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed that he does not fall. We ALL could profit greatly by heeding the apostle's warning. Regarding the ruling of one's emotions, I must confess that, all too often, I fail the test. Thank God for Romans 7 and 1 John 1. In fact when I am succesfull in immitating Christ it comes as a pleasent surprise, which causes me to praise Him for using a sinner like me to accomplish good. God Bless, John |
